The New York Times fourth annual Arts & Leisure Weekend will be held January 7 - 9, 2005. This year's event will be the largest in the four-year history of the event with more than 1,300 cultural institutions participating throughout the United States and Europe. The weekend is the newspaper's annual signature event, a national and international celebration of art and culture.

The legacy of the late legendary actor, director and teacher Stella Adler, will be celebrated with a gala fete and awards ceremony, Stella By Starlight, Monday November 8, in The Grand Ball Room, Pierre Hotel, New York. The evening benefits The Stella Adler Studio of Acting's scholarship programs, inner-city outreach and facilities expansion. The event's co-chairmen, Michael Medavoy, Roy Scheider and Benicio Del Toro head a committee of luminaries from the worlds of theater, film, television and business, many of them alumni of the famed school.

There were some wonderful offerings on the stages of Philadelphia and South Jersey last year and this year is proving to be another exciting year for some of Broadway's favorites. Some shows are hot off the Great White Way, while others are fresh new revivals or solid standing favorites. A few shows and events are exciting new premiers that the Philly area theater crowd always welcomes with open arms.
