Courtney Lewis To Make Debut With Jonathan Biss As Soloist, 4/20-25

Courtney Lewis, former Assistant Conductor, will make his New York Philharmonic subscription debut leading Jonathan Biss as soloist in Timo Andres's Piano Concerto No. 3, The Blind Banister, and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2; the program also includes selections from Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet and Elgar's In the South (Alassio). 

Sarasota Film Festival Launches Veteran's Filmmaking Academy With Their First Documentary Short RETURNING

The Sarasota Film Festival  announces the launch of their newly established Veteran's Filmmaking Academy completed in collaboration with Project Rebirth. Local veteran's Rae Chapman, Eddie Cacciola, Mike Scelia and Jeff Garner participated in making the first documentary short RETURNING with instruction from Shaun Greenspan and Ed Fagan of Triforce Pictures and Director Jason Benjamin (SUITED).  The film will make its world premiere at this years festival at the Sarasota Opera House on Tuesday, April 4th at 6:30PM.

This week one of the most beloved Disney stories of all time opens at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. THE LION KING tells the story of Simba, a little lion who returns to his home to take his rightful place as the king of Pride Rock. With colorful music written by Elton John and Tim Rice, choreography by Garth Fagan, and direction by Julie Taymor, the story comes to life on stage like nothing that's ever been seen before. Beautiful costumes, masks, and puppets that the actors use make for a gorgeous production and magical experience for the audience.

Canada's Honens Piano Announces Rules For 2018 Competition

Calgary-based Honens today announced details of its 2018 Piano Competition.  Pianists of all nationalities, aged 20 to 30 on August 30, 2018, with the exception of past Honens Laureates and professionally managed artists, may apply starting February 1, 2017.  The application deadline is October 31, 2017.  The Competition's Quarterfinals take place in Berlin and New York in March 2018.  Semifinals and Finals take place in Calgary from August 30 to September 8, 2018.

Iggy Pop Life Class Opens November 4, 2016 at the Brooklyn Museum

In Iggy Pop Life Class, Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller uses the traditional life-model drawing class to stage a performative event with Iggy Pop as model and subject. The resulting drawings, created by twenty-two participating artists, will be shown at the Brooklyn Museum from November 4, 2016, to March 26, 2017. Along with works depicting the male body selected from the Museum's historical collections, the exhibition examines shifting cultural representations of masculinity across history.

MCC Theater Will Break Ground on New Performance Space Later This Month

French Embassy & FIAF to Host TILT KIDS FESTIVAL in Spring 2016

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) today announced programming for the inaugural Tilt Kids Festival. The new cultural festival for families will feature multidisciplinary international work paired with commissions from New York artists, including five premieres. Tilt Kids Festival runs from March 4 through April 3. Tickets will go on sale December 23 at www.tiltkidsfestival.org.
