For theatre lovers in our area, we always look forward to what our theatre companies have in store for us in their upcoming seasons. We look to see if there are any trends that stand out to us as audience members. We also see growth in many companies with each new season of shows. Anyone that's been following DC theatre for a while will notice how things have changed in the last twenty or thirty years. One of the biggest examples of this would be the clean up and revitalization of 14th Street, which had direct implications for Studio Theatre and Source.

Grippo Stage Company will present a revival of the heartfelt and comedic hit THE GOD OF ISAAC, playwright James Sherman's semi-autobiographical account of a young American Jew searching for his Jewish identity in the wake of the threatened neo-Nazi march in the Chicago suburb of Skokie in 1977.

Tim Key, Paul Ritter and Rufus Sewell star in Yasmina Reza's dazzling study of friendship, prejudice and tolerance, ART, beginning tonight at The Old Vic.

La Jolla Playhouse, nationally-renowned for the development of new work, announces four world-premiere productions for the 2017/2018 season, including the previously-announced Escape to Margaritaville (May/June), featuring the songs of legendary singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett and an original story by co-book writers Greg Garcia ('My Name Is Earl') and Mike O'Malley ('Survivor's Remorse,' 'Shameless'), directed by La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley (Come From Away, Memphis).

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the 2016 - 2017 season of Chicago's hit musical revue series, New Faces Sing returning to Uptown Underground, 4707 N. According to BBC News, Olivier Award-winning director Howard Davies passed away yesterday. He was 71 years old.

Marc-Andre Hamelin, ranked among the elite pianists of the world, will perform at Chenery Auditorium, 714 S. Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI, on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 8pm, as part of The Gilmore's Piano Masters Series. Hamelin is respected as one of the most "prolific, technically meticulous and programmatically adventurous pianists" (WQXR) in the world. With more than 70 albums on the Hyperion Label, he is considered a master of the classical repertoire as well as an advocate of neglected music from the 19th and 20th centuries and of contemporary music.

Harry Potter mania grips London, while over the pond the States is seized by Hamilton fever. What do they have in common? The Bayou Theatre Company returns with its third season entitled 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Exploring the Complexities of Womanhood'. Based on Ben Hecht's books A Guide For the Bedevilled and A Child Of the Century, in which Hecht confronts his own identity as an American Jew in the wake of the Nazi Holocaust, THE BEN HECHT SHOW begins today, June 10 and continues through July 17, 2016 at Piven Theatre at Noyes Cultural Center, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.
