Canton Symphony Orchestra to Offer Additional SUMMER SERENADES Concerts, 8/13

CANTON, OHIO (August 6, 2015) – The Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in partnership with the Stark County Park District (SCPD) will present three more Summer Serenades in the Park, a series of FREE concerts that began in June and runs to Labor Day 2015.  The series is sponsored in part by Mary Renkert Wendling Foundation, Fred and Virginia Olivieri, Canton Rotary Charitable Foundation, Medicine Center Pharmacy, Young Truck Sales, and Greenlines Trucking.

Pearl, a new multi-cultural dance play inspired by the life of Pearl S. Buck, the first woman to win both the Nobel and the Pulitzer Prizes, will have its world premiere at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for 4 performances only, August 27-30th. The story, focusing on the substantial influence Pearl had on both Chinese and Western cultures, will be brought to life through new choreography by Daniel Ezralow (Ezralow Dance Company, MOMIX, Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony, Academy Awards), a new score composed by Jun Miyake (collaborations with Robert Wilson, Pina Bausch, David Byrne and Oliver Stone), dazzling visuals and a company of 30 dancers.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the line up of new musicals for their 27th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). CANTON, OHIO (April 14, 2015) – Three choruses combined into one, six vocal soloists and internationally acclaimed pianist André Watts join together for the Canton Symphony Orchestra's final Beethoven Festival concert. The program for the concert on April 26 at 8:00pm at the Zimmermann Symphony Center (2331 17thStreet NW) includes Beethoven's Choral Fantasy and Symphony No. 9 “Ode to Joy”.

New Theatre Production, Based on Life of Pearl S. Buck, to Premiere at Lincoln Center

At a press conference held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this morning, representatives from Legend River Entertainment (Beijing) announced that they will produce a theatrical show, entitled "Pearl", based on the life of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck. This show is also being co-produced by an American company, Studiomusica USA. This story, which is familiar to both the Chinese and Western audiences, will be brought to life through the art of dance, highlighting the blending of two cultures and "East meets West" in abstract form. The show will run from August 27-30, 2015 at Lincoln Center in New York City.
