In honor of VIOLET's opening on Broadway tonight, BroadwayWorld is highlighting Tony Award-winning actress Sutton Foster's body of work!

Two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster, Colin Donnell, Alexander Gemignani, and Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry star in Violet with Ben Davis, Annie Golden, Emerson Steele, Austin Lesch,Anastacia McCleskey, Charlie Pollock, Jacob Keith Watson, Rema Webb and Virginia Ann Woodruff. Violet officially opens on April 20, 2014 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street) for a 20-week limited engagement.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that PS Classics will record the cast album of VIOLET on April 7, 2014. This Original Broadway Cast Recording, a two-disc set, will be released on June 3. The production is currently playing at the American Airlines Theatre through August 10, 2014.

The musical Violet, with music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by Brian Crawley, directed by Leigh Silverman begins previews this week at the American Airlines Theatre.

Spinning Tree Theatre in Kansas City announced their selections for the 2014-2015 season. The new season sees Spinning Tree grow from three shows per season to a fourth show. Two plays and two musicals highlight the season, with three of the productions being Kansas City premieres. The new season marks the first time the theatrical company has produced a local playwright.

Side Show, based on the true life story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, is set to be revived at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in performances running from June 14 - July 13, 2014. Side Show originally opened on Broadway in 1997, starring Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner as the Hilton twins. Telling the story of their rise from circus attractions to famous vaudeville performers during the Great Depression, Side Show brings us the sisters' lifelong search for fortune, romance, and a spot on the stage.

The musical will star two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Violet), Colin Donnell (Monty), Alexander Gemignani (Father) and Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry (Flick), and will feature Ben Davis (Preacher), Annie Golden (Hotel Singer/Old Lady), Emerson Steele (Young Violet) and Austin Lesch, Anastasia McCleskey, Charlie Pollock, Jacob Keith Watson, Rema Webb and Virginia Ann Woodruff.

This musical features bluegrass, gospel, country, and rock music. It's like the tomato sauce Prego...'It's all in there.'

Composer Jeanine Tesori just revealed in an interview with Variety that the upcoming Broadway production will be the one-act, 'retooled and trimmed' version that was presented at Encores in summer 2013. The changes made for that presentation will be 'retained and honed.'

Signature Theatre is excited to announce that the 25th anniversary 2014/15 season will culminate in an all-new production of The Fix, the inside-Washington musical satire. Featuring a book by John Dempsey and music by Dana P. Sutton Foster is coming BACK to Broadway, as Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced that it will present two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster in a Broadway production of VIOLET (first seen as part of Encores! Off-Center concert series in 2013), directed by Leigh Silverman. Based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, VIOLET features music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by Brian Crawley. VIOLET will be produced in association with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, David Mirvish, Barry and Fran Weissler, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Mary Jo and Ted Shen.

Fiddlehead Theatre Company announces two talkbacks during the run of A Little Princess, Fiddlehead's first production as Resident Company at Boston's historic Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA). A Little Princess will run from November 21 -December 8, 2013, and will feature two appearances by the creative team behind A Little Princess: Composer Andrew Lippa will provide a talkback on Friday, November 29 hosted by WGBH's Jared Bowen, and playwright Brian Crawley will take the stage on Friday, December 6. Both sessions are free for ticket-holders, who are invited to stay after the performance to participate in an audience Q&A. These events are perfect for theater students, educators, drama departments, and fans of musical theater.
