The 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle's premiere musical theatre, is announces its line-up for the 2011/12 season. The new season opens with the critically acclaimed 25th Anniversary production of Les Misérables, direct from London. The season comes to a spectacular finish with an all-new staging of Jonathan Larson's Rent, featuring a talented cast of young, local performers.

Back by popular demand, The 5th Avenue Theatre is pleased to welcome the exuberant holiday amusement Sing-along Sound of Music on Saturday, January 1, and Sunday, January 2. Taking its cue from the classic line from the much-loved film, 'Life is not just meant to be watched - you're supposed to sing along,' this evening of musical interactivity gives audiences a chance to boo the Baroness and the Nazis, cheer the plucky Von Trapps, and sing along to every well-known number in the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein score.

Beowulf Alley Theatre's Old Time Radio Theatre Company will present two classic productions from the golden days of radio on Tuesday, September 21 at the theatre. Beowulf Alley Theatre is located at 11 South 6th Avenue (Downtown between Broadway and Congress). The first show is one of radio's favorite, long-running series, 'Maxwell House Coffee Time (Burns and Allen).' This episode, 'The Sam Spade Episode,' was first presented on February 10, 1949, followed by Dashiell Hammett's famous detective, Sam Spade and The Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail Episode, first presented August 28, 1949.

As part of their upcoming productions of Leonard Bernstein's madcap musical On The Town and his mid-career masterpiece Candide, The 5th Avenue Theatre announced that they will be sponsoring a series of Show Talks during the runs of both shows, focusing on the life, music and influence of the conductor, composer and 20th-century Renaissance man.

Partners in Preservation has announced the 25 candidates for their Seattle program, which includes the historic 5th Avenue Theatre. The proposed project at The 5th is a renovation of its lobby's elaborately painted ceiling and walls. The recipient of the grant money will be determined by members of the public voting on-line for their favorite candidate.
