The Rolling Stones Set to Kick Off Their '50 & Counting World Tour'

Despite speculation about the start date, The Rolling Stones have announced that the 50 & Counting World Tour will begin early in April. The date of the tour's first stop is still TBA pending the NBA/NHL playoff schedules, but otherwise the tour schedule is a solid go.

OUTSIDE SATAN (HORS SATAN), the breathtaking and provocative new feature directed by Bruno Dumont, will be the opening night film of the Museum of the Moving Image's two-week showcase FIRST LOOK. Tonight's, January 4 screening opens the Museum's second annual showcase for inventive, groundbreaking new international cinema, which includes 26 works-feature-length and short films-from Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, and the United States: a highly selective group of films that are distinguished by their artistic audacity. All of the feature films, and nearly all of the short films, are New York premieres. The series closes on Sunday, January 13, with a program of short films by Kleber Mendonça Filho, the acclaimed Brazilian director of NEIGBORING SOUNDS.

Unearthed after more than forty years and unheard since their original airing, the recordings of Village Voice "Scenes" columnist and radio personality HoWard Smith are now available for the first time. Containing over 100 interviews, The Smith Tapes will be released in monthly installments on digital retailers iTunes and Amazon. Collection #1: Fillmore East was released on November 20 with Collection #2: Aquarian Theater due today, December 18.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today THE SHORTEST DAY (LE JOUR LE PLUS COURT), an international event celebrating French short films on the shortest day of the year, December 21st at 3PM, coordinated by The Centre National de la Cinematographie et de l'image animée (CNC). The screenings are supported by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, and the Institut Français and will be FREE to the public at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center's Amphitheater.

BWW Interviews: Legendary Pop Singer Vikki Carr Talks About Her New Album Viva la Vida

Legendary singer/actress Vikki Carr, born Florencia Bisenta de Casillas Martinez Cardona in El Paso, Texas, skyrocketed to superstardom as an American pop singer in 1962 with 'He's a Rebel' followed by 'It Must Be Him' in 1967 and 'With Pen in Hand' in 1969. In the 80s and 90s her Spanish recordings brought her three Grammy Awards, and she set the precedent for cross over artists becoming successful in both English and Spanish. Now in 2012 she returns to the Sony label with a new album Viva la Vida, released on September 25. In our chat she talks about the album, the charity that is closest to her heart and how she feels about being a Mexican-American in show business.

Soho Rep has announced its fall-winter 2012-13 mainstage productions on the heels of its twice-extended, immensely acclaimed world premiere of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, adapted by Annie Baker and directed by Sam Gold. This fall and winter, the 13-time OBIE-winning theater will introduce New York audiences to two more highly anticipated new works, by artists whose careers Soho Rep has nurtured: Jackie Sibblies Drury's We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915, directed by Eric Ting; and Nature Theater of Oklahoma's epic musical serial, Life and Times: Episodes 1-4 a Soho Rep production presented by The Public Theater as a special engagement of the Under the Radar Festival 2013. Soho Rep's 2012/13 season is produced in association with John Adrian Selzer. (The theater will announce its spring production later this fall.)

Joshua Henry Joins Cast of COTTON CLUB PARADE at New York City Center, 11/14-18

Joshua Henry will join Amber Riley ("Glee"), Jared Grimes and Adriane Lenox in New York City Center's acclaimed production of Cotton Club Parade, returning for seven performances from November 14-18, 2012. (Mr. Henry replaces the previously announced Brandon Victor Dixon. Mr. Dixon is no longer available due to scheduling conflicts.) Conceived by Jack Viertel and presented under the auspices of City Center's Tony Award-winning Encores! series, Cotton Club Parade will once again be directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, with music direction by Jazz at Lincoln Center Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis. Last Spring, the Painted Bride Art Center introduced audiences to the artistic talents of noted playwright/director/actor Ain Gordon and announced an 18 month residency with Gordon and Philadelphia filmmaker Nadine Patterson. The residency was to unearth an overlooked or little known story from the city's history. The challenge was to find something in a city where history is an industry and stories abound. The artists have worked with several organizations across the city and have found inspiration in the women reformers who lived in the city from the early to mid-1800s. Place Philadelphia Project research will culminate in an as yet untitled workset to run at the Painted Bride, last weekend in April and the first weekend of May during the 2013 Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts.
