This March, the Museum of Arts and Design is pleased to present The Director Must Not Be Credited: 20 Years of Dogme 95, a cinema series exploring the enduring legacy of the game-changing film movement. Premiering on March 13, 2015, the twentieth anniversary of Danish filmmakers Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg's revolutionary manifesto, the series features nine, rarely screened films recognized by the Dogme 95 committee --many of which never received US distributions. Together, these films highlight the growth of Dogme 95 into a worldwide movement that spanned genres and forever changed the ways in which narrative feature films are made.

Boston Pops Will Tour Florida Next Month

The Boston Pops and conductor Keith Lockhart will showcase the extraordinary range of 'America's Orchestra' in five Florida cities from February 3-9, presenting a program focused on our country's most celebrated composers, including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin, as well as film music favorites from the incomparable Boston Pops Laureate Conductor John Williams. The orchestra will also perform crowd-pleasing orchestrations of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and ABBA's Dancing Queen, and a new Beatles sing-along including 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,' 'Twist and Shout,' and 'Hey Jude.'

December 20 marks the cultural high point of Rhode Island's holiday season as The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra joins forces with The Providence Singers, CHRISTINE NOEL, artistic director, in their eighth annual performance of George Frideric Handel's MESSIAH. Soloists include soprano DEBORAH SELIG, mezzo-soprano REBECCA RINGLE, tenor CHARLES BLANDY and MATTHEW BURNS, bass-baritone. ANDREW CLARK, Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University and former artistic director of the Providence Singers, conducts. The perennial favorite holiday concert features a family-friendly start time of 7:00pm on Saturday December 20 at The Vets in Providence. Conductor James Conlon leads a rare revival of Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Metropolitan Opera in six performances beginning Monday, November 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The cast for Graham Vick's production includes soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek in the title role as Katerina Ismailova, tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Sergei, tenor Raymond Very as Zinovy Ismailov, and baritone Anatoli Kotscherga as Boris Ismailov. Tenor Frank van Aken sings the role of Sergei in the November 21 performance.

From September 18-28, 2014, Houston Ballet offers up its fall mixed repertory program titled From Houston to the World with ballets choreographed for Houston Ballet dancers. Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo brings wit and humor to the extreme virtuosity that he demands in ONE/end/ONE. Edwaard Liang's deeply spiritual ballet Murmuration also returns. Closing the program is Stanton Welch's vivid and exciting interpretation of the third act of Paquita, showcasing a breathtaking display of technique and classical skill. Houston Ballet will give six performances of From Houston to the World at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston.
