Asolo Rep's 2015 New Stages Tour Production of TWELFTH NIGHT Comes to FSU Tonight

Asolo Repertory Theatre presents the sixth annual New Stages Tour, an FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training production of William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT, which performed throughout October and November 2015. There will be a homecoming performance, open to the public, tonight, November 24 at 6:30pm in the Cook Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

The San Francisco Early Music Society's 40th-anniversary season continues the weekend of November 20 with three concerts by the Baltimore Consort, featuring its core repertory, music of the Elizabethan era, with songs and consort music from Shakespeare's plays. Soprano Danielle Svonavec joins the ensemble to perform some of the greatest hits from the Bard's songbook, including 'It Was a Lover and his Lass,' 'Where the Bee Sucks,' 'Full Fathom Five' and 'The Willow Song.'

Sometimes the battle of the sexes is not enough.  The Drilling Company reads turf wars and class consciousness into its production of 'The Taming of the Shrew,' to be presented September 4 to 20 as part of Bryant Park Shakespeare, directed by Alessandro Colla.  In an intrepid adaptation, the popular comedy is transported to a modern New England fishing village, not unlike Martha's Vineyard, where Katherina is a member of the yachting set and Petruchio is a local fisherman. 

Following Onstage Collapse, Peter Land Departs RUTHLESS! Off-Broadway

RUTHLESS! The Musical's leading man, Peter Land, collapsed onstage at the top of the second act on Friday evening, July 17th. EMT's arrived on the scene and Mr. Land was transported to the hospital where he received emergency surgery for a tear in the aorta. His recovery is going extremely well and he was even discharged from the hospital earlier this week. Paul Pecorino has assumed the role of Sylvia St. Croix and Mr. Land hopes to return to the show in the near future. Author Joel Paley bravely filled in for several performances in the week following the accident (triumphantly, according to all eyewitnesses).

Former Head of Stratford Festival, Robin Phillips Has Died

BroadwayWorld has learned that English actor/director Robin Phillips has died. Best known as a driving force behind the revitalization of Ontario's Stratford Festival in the 1970s, Phillips passed away yesterday, July 25, following a prolonged illness. He was 73.

Rose Theatre Kingston today announces its most ambitious project to date - this autumn the Rose stage will be transformed into a battlefield for The Wars of the Roses, a gripping adaptation of four of Shakespeare's history plays, directed by Trevor Nunn.
