The Public Theater announced today that Emmy Award winner Mare Winningham and Dimitri Joseph Moise join the previously announced cast of the world premiere musical Joan of Arc: Into the Fire.

Award-winning actor John Lithgow ('67 ArD '05) is the recipient of the 2017 Harvard Arts Medal, which will be awarded by Harvard University President Drew Gilpin Faust at a ceremony on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 4 pm at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle St., Cambridge.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in a program celebrating John Adams's 70th birthday year, featuring John Adams's Harmonielehre and Absolute Jest - with the New York Philharmonic String Quartet as solo ensemble in its debut - on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University under the leadership of Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Director Diane Quinn, will present The Night of the Iguana, written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Michael Wilson. In a recent interview with News Chief, Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis explains that he has a different economic philosophy from the Public's founder Joe Papp. The non-profit has a 10% stake in mega-hit Hamilton, though only a small portion goes into the theatre's operating budget. Noting that the Hamilton revenue 'won't be around forever,' he explains that only $250,000 goes into the Public's operating budget an the rest is placed in cash reserves for 'artistic programs, acquisition of space, raising payments for artists.'

Melbourne Theatre Company is thrilled to today announce that the critically acclaimed musical What Rhymes with Cars and Girls will tour nationally in 2017, opening in Geelong next September before touring to Bendigo, Sydney and Brisbane.
