The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) has announced Willy Russell's (Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine) BLOOD BROTHERS, musical staging by Christine O'Grady, musical direction by Julianne B. Merrill, and directed by Tom Wojtunik. BLOOD BROTHERS will play a limited engagement at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (30-44 Crescent St, Astoria, NY 11102. Entrance on 30th Road.) Performances begin tonight, May 2 and continue through Saturday, May 18.

In an Almeida Theatre and Headlong co-production, Lyndsey Turner will direct the World Premiere of Lucy Kirkwood's Chimerica. The new dates for this production are 20 May - 6 July 2013, with press night on 28 May. Set designs are by Es Devlin with costumes by Christina Cunningham, lighting by Tim Lutkin, sound by Carolyn Downing and video design by Finn Ross.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre and home of the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI-US), invites all theatres, individual artists, institutions and audiences to celebrate the 51st annual World Theatre Day today, March 27, 2013. Each year, a renowned theatre artist of world stature is invited by ITI Worldwide in Paris to craft an international message to mark the global occasion. The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at CCBC Essex, garnered two major awards at this year's invitational Junior Theater Festival. CPM's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr. captured the prestigious Freddy Gershon Award for Excellence in Music. Jamie Watson of Baltimore, (pictured left) as the Sea Witch Ursula, won the coveted Outstanding Female Performer award. Brad Bowers of Towson and Jamie Watson were named Festival Performing All Stars and Nick Logue of Essex and Tony Steiner of Baltimore were named Festival Technical Theatre All Stars.

The Little Aggies Theatre presents Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. playing at The Albertville Fine Arts Center starting tonight, June 1 at 7PM for 2 weeks through June 9, 2012. The musical is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. The cast contains approximately 75 students led by Kelleybrooke Brown, Director and Assisted by Lee White.
