The London-based Shakespeare's Globe will bring their global touring production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet to Folger Theatre for three performances only on July 25 and 26, 2014, making it the only east coast stop for the company in the United States. Directed by Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhurst, the production is a fresh, pared-down version of the classic tragedy of deferred revenge.

Of Mice and Men, one of the greatest and most enduring American classics, has not been seen on Broadway in 40 years.

'And this year, many of our dealers will be bringing art from faraway places,' he adds. One prominent gallery whose exhibit promises to be a highlight is Galeria Estacão, from Sao Paulo, Brazil. The creations of Estacão's artists are as varied and distinct as their extraordinary life stories. Three of them were featured in the 2012 groundbreaking exhibition Histoires de Voir at the Cartier Foundation in Paris.

Just a few months ago, Michael Riedel reported that Bette Midler has been approached for a revival, for which she seemingly passed, telling interviewers that she didn't see herself wanting to carry an entire musical for 8 shows a week. Now, it might be Kristin Chenoweth's turn. Riedel wrote that 'Kristin Chenoweth has said she'd love to play Dolly Levi in 'Hello, Dolly!' in about 10 years. But her wish may come true a lot sooner. I hear she's in discussions to star in a multimillion-dollar Broadway revival within the next two years.' He goes on to note that lined up as director and choreographer is Warren Carlyle (Cotton Club Parade, A Christmas Story, Chaplin, Follies & More.)

According to the Chicago Tribune, Patty Andrews, last surviving member of the acclaimed pop group the Andrews Sisters, died today, January 30, 2013. She was 94. Her sister Maxene died in 1995, and her sister LaVerne died in 1967.

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the second extension of Oh Coward!, words and music by Noel Coward, devised by Roderick Cook. The production, which began its run in November 2009 is directed by Jim Corti, with musical direction by Doug Peck. The production has been extended through April 18, 2010, at Writers' Theatre, 664 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe.
