Today, October 1, The Pearl Theatre Company celebrates the opening of The Pearl Theatre (555 West 42nd Street), its first permanent home, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a benefit reading of James Thurber's A Thurber Carnival, arranged and directed by Michael McKean, who will also perform. The reading's all-star cast also includes Jason Butler Harner, Jackie Hoffman, Elizabeth Marvel, Dakin Matthews, Maryann Plunkett, Jay O. Sanders, and Annette O'Toole.

The Castillo Theatre continues its presentation of four winning scripts from the 2012 Mario Fratti-Fred Newman Political Play Contest, selected from more than 200 entries including submissions by playwrights from around the world. The plays are being directed by distinguished theatre professionals and the final production plays tonight, August 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Patrick Page played his final performance as 'The Green Goblin' in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark yesterday, August 5. Broadway star Robert Cuccioli, best known for his Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle winning and Tony-nominated performance as the star of Jekyll and Hyde, will take on the role in his long-anticipated return to Broadway. Cuccioli will play his first performance on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street). The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. The production is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which eliminated the right to marry for gay and lesbian couples in California.

Following the opening of Terence Rattigan's Flare Path, the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company today (1 April 2011) announce a further two productions to be directed by Trevor Nunn in his role as Artistic Director. After a three week run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, Nunn's production of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead comes to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in June, followed in September by William Shakespeare's The Tempest. Further productions in the season will be announced shortly.
