Jennifer Jewell presents 'Raison d'etre: an Evening of Pirandello,' adapted from selected works by Nobel Prize Laureate for Literature and Italian dramatist, novelist, poet, and writer Luigi Pirandello. 'Raison d'etre: an Evening of Pirandello,' explores the complexity and depth of Pirandello's work by taking his seminal play, 'Six Characters in Search of an Author' and infusing it with characters and themes from two of his notable one-act plays, 'Chee Chee' and 'The Man with the Flower In His Mouth.'

Long Island's newest theatrical venue The Argyle Theatre (Evan Pappas, Artistic Director) presents the Tony Award winning hit Broadway musical Hairspray with book by Marc O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island).  Performances are set to begin Thursday, July 12, 2018 for a limited run through Sunday, August 26, 2018. 

The Orchestra Now Announces 2018-19 Performance Season

The Orchestra Now (TON), the visionary orchestra and master's degree program founded in 2015 by Bard College president and conductor, educator, and music historian Leon Botstein, will open its fourth season on September 15, 2018. Five individual series and two special events will present 17 different programs offering innovative combinations of familiar and lesser-known repertoire through May 19, 2019. To date, the young members of TON have performed close to 100 concerts for more than 35,000 New Yorkers.

Orchestra Of St. Luke's Announces 2018-19 Carnegie Hall Season

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 2018-2019 Subscription Series presented by Carnegie Hall, will open on October 25, 2018, with Bernard Labadie on the podium for his official debut as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra. Works of Haydn are the thematic thread to this 32nd Carnegie Hall subscription season and the three programs will also feature works by younger contemporaries and 20th-century composers he influenced. The program, for the first of three concerts, pairs two great masterworks of the choral repertoire, Haydn's Mass in D Minor, Hob. XXII: 11, 'Nelson Mass,' and Mozart's Requiem, K. 626.La Chapelle de Quebec, the choir founded and directed by Maestro Labadie, makes its first appearance with OSL, joined by guest soloists German tenor Lothar Odinius, French-Canadian bass-baritone Philippe Sly, and acclaimed American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.
