Hailed as "one of the great amateur choruses of our time (New York Today) for its "full-bodied sound and suppleness (The New York Times)," The Dessoff Choirs turns the church into a petit Paris with an all-French program that puts the spotlight on the brilliant French Impressionists of music: Marcel Dupre, Claude Debussy, Lili Boulanger, Reynaldo Hahn, Jean Langlais, and Francis Poulenc. Joined by accompanist Steven Ryan (celebrating his 20th anniversary season with Dessoff) and Dr. Raymond Nagem, Associate Organist at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, Dessoff presents a magnifique tribute to French composers and to the majeste of the organ.

Butler and book by Andrew Farmer, and The White City, music by Avi Amon and book and lyrics by Julia Gytri, which will be developed in an intensive two-week summer lab at Yale School of Drama, June 13-25.

Butler and book by Andrew Farmer, directed by Kent Nicholson; and The White City, music by Avi Amon and book and lyrics by Julia Gytri, directed by Mark Brokaw. Juilliard and New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) present 'Harry, Hoagy, and Harold' on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at 7:30pm in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The program, Juilliard's 11th presentation with NYFOS, is a tribute to three iconic American songwriters: Harry Warren, Hoagy Carmichael, and Harold Arlen. Pianist and arranger Steven Blier, a member of Juilliard's faculty and artistic director of NYFOS, performs with the singers from Juilliard's Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts. The evening features sopranos Mikaela Bennett and Christine Price; mezzo-sopranos Amanda Lynn Bottoms and Kelsey Lauritano; tenors Samuel Levine and Gerard Schneider; and baritone Dimitri Katotakis. Stage direction is by Mary Birnbaum, choreography is by Adam Cates, and Chris Reynolds is the assistant pianist. The singers have been coached by guest coach Mary Testa.

Sumptuous scenery, costumes, and lighting, and an achingly beautiful Tchaikovsky score, set the stage for the ethereal corps de ballet and the ultimate challenge for ballerinas all over the world—the dual role of Odette, trapped in the body of a white swan until the oath of her true love sets her free; and Odile, the “Black Swan” temptress. Celebrating a milestone 125th Anniversary, the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University kicks off its inaugural 'Made in Chicago' performance series highlighting the city's best homegrown music and dance artists and ensembles. Launching in November, the robust series will present three Windy City mainstays including 'On Stage With... Susan Werner' (today, November 8); the perennially popular Orbert Davis' Chicago Jazz Philharmonic with 'CJP @ Ten' (November 14); and the award-winning Thodos Dance Chicago (November 29).
