The 70th Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 12th at 8/9c hosted by James Corden. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize.

Sundance Institute today announced the acting company, dramaturgs and creative advisors participating in its pilot Theatre Lab in the MENA region, including Sandra Oh, Hoon Lee, Deanna Dunagan, Hala Omran and Raeda Taha. The Lab, held in Morocco next month, is part of the Institute's international cultural exchange programs for independent artists and will kick off a new, multi-year commitment to support artists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). For the Lab, the Institute will provide promising, fresh voices from the U.S. and MENA region with a rigorous artistic retreat and new opportunities for cross-cultural discovery, artistic reflection and creative experimentation.

Poway OnStage and Berkley Hart Announces line-up for April 9th 2016 performance of O' BERKLEY, WHERE HART THOU? at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.

Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, will be jamming as they welcome legendary reggae supergroup, The Wailers, Grammy Award-winning jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour, Latin percussionist Gerardo Velez and a host of local talent including Willie K, Natalie Ai Kamauu, Melveen Leed and Shari Lynn. The month kicks off with local music icons Henry Kapono, Brother Noland and John Cruz together as the Rough Riders. Blue Note Hawaii also continues Gospel Brunch every Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. showtime, with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. 

Poway OnStage and Berkley Hart Announces line-up for April 9th 2016 performance of O' BERKLEY, WHERE HART THOU? at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.

This spring, Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will celebrate one of its most successful seasons and look ahead to the future at its annual fundraising event, the 2016 Set the Stage Celebration. The evening will feature musical performances by Benjamin Scheuer, whose performance of The Lion kicked off Sean Daniels' inaugural year as MRT's artistic director and broke several box office records. Scheuer will perform a mix of songs from The Lion and others previously unheard by MRT audiences. Joining Scheuer will be Charissa Bertels, whose one-woman musical, My 80-Year-Old Boyfriend, was recently announced as the closing production of MRT's 2016-17 Season. Bertels is currently on the national tour of the Broadway musical If/Then.

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces its 42nd season, including three World Premieres and two Midwest Premieres.  The season kicks off with the Midwest Premiere of Anthony Giardina's political family drama The City of Conversation, critically acclaimed and currently in development as a miniseries for F/X. The season continues with the World Premiere of the charmingly imagined sequel to Pride and Prejudice, Miss Bennet by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon, followed by the World Premiere of Faceless by emerging playwright Selina Fillinger, and the Midwest Premiere of By the Water by Sharyn Rothstein, winner of the prestigious 2015 Primus Prize. This funny and deeply moving Welsh mining drama is packed full of blistering comedy and echoes a generation of lost voices.
