The judges for the fourth triennial Parkening International Guitar Competition, to be presented by Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, from today, May 27, to Saturday, May 30, 2015, have been announced.

The complete cast and creative team have been announced for The Old Globe production of William Shakespeare's delightful and romantic Twelfth Night. Rebecca Taichman, whose production of the time-traveling Time and the Conways fascinated audiences last April, is back to direct the first show of the 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Old Globe engagement will begin performances on June 21 and run through July 26, 2015, with opening night on Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m., in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

On the occasion of his 50th birthday (6.13.15), the Austrian Cultural Forum New York presents an unprecedented overview of composer/percussionist Lukas Ligeti's work as a composer including new pieces written specifically for the occasion. The concert series opens June 11th at the ACFNY, with performances of Lukas' solo and small ensemble works (performers include Thomas Bergeron, Candy Chiu, Jennifer Hymer, Ben Reimer, David Cossin, and others), and premiere pieces for Lukas' new classical/indie rock band, Notebook. The festival culminates June 14th at Roulette featuring Lukas' music for chamber orchestra. Program includes several world premieres, as well as U.S. and New York City premieres, performed by the fresh, contemporary-collective Ensemble mise-en conducted by Oliver Hagen, pianist Vicky Chow, and others. Chicago, IL – (April 16, 2015) The Chicago Philharmonic announces its 2015-16 season, Chasing the Sun: Transitions and Transformations. The season explores works written by composers at moments of significant change in their lives or careers. Scott Speck leads the orchestra in his third season as artistic director. “With a beloved masterwork, a virtuoso soloist, and a 21st century composer represented on every concert, the Chicago Philharmonic continues its adventures in direct, urgent, truly relevant music-making,” said Speck.

Long Wharf Theatre's inaugural Contemporary American Voices Festival, a weekend of new play readings, will take place this weekend, April 18 and 19, 2015.

After her sold out engagement last fall, BETTY BUCKLEY returns at the end of May for seven performances with a new show tailored specifically for Joe's Pub at The Public called Dark Blue-Eyed Blues. Her new collection of songs - running May 28 through May 31 - will feature 'Musings of a Chanteuse' and will include standards and songs by contemporary writers for some glamour, torch and comedy. She will be joined by Christian Jacob on piano, Tony Marino on bass, Todd Isler on drums and Oz Noy on guitar. Terry Gabis provides sound design.
