Celebrate End of Prohibition Anniversary at Frist Center's Repeal Day Party

On the evening of Monday, December 5, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts will host a party celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the 1933 repeal of Prohibition. Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the historic post office building in which the Frist Center is housed.

Bucks County Playhouse opens their 2015 season with a new musical about baseball, NATIONAL PASTIME. This musical is a show that takes audiences back to the 1930s. It is a musical about baseball, but it also a show about the 1930s culture and radio in small town America. Under the direction of Hunter Foster, NATIONAL PASTIME is a lighthearted production that takes the audience back to 1933 and pays homage to days gone by.

Cabaret is set in 1930s Berlin, just around the time the Nazi Party began rising to power in Germany. The Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage at the Kit Kat Klub nightly to tantalize the crowd, and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, the club, a metaphor for the threatening state of the late Weimar Germany begins to fall apart.
