In recognition of the increased interest in all types of careers now available in the culinary arts, the James Beard Foundation (JBF) announced today that it is adding a new program to its existing JBF Scholarship Program. The memoirs capture Mr. B from his hand-me-down-baggy-pants-poverty to becoming a self-made man. Joseph Byk begins school as a disruptive and uninterested student.

National Geographic Channel (NGC) announced today that visionary Mexican filmmaker Everardo Gout (“Days of Grace”) has been tapped to direct the network's six-hour documentary-scripted hybrid miniseries, MARS.

The 15th annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 72 selected short films, 45 are world premieres and 53 are in competition at the Festival.

PITTSBURGH – FUSE@PSO, the popular, genre-bending early evening concert series presented by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, returns Wednesday, March 9 to Heinz Hall with “Stravinsky's Firebird: Remix | Response.”  For this concert, series Creative Director Steve Hackman has crafted a modern dramatization and remix of Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird. Weaved into the Stravinsky are 12 original songs, inspired by the myth of the Firebird and the original 1911 score, that implement modern pop/DJ/electronica production techniques and tell the story in an entirely new and contemporary way.  It is at once a live remix, concept album and classical masterpiece. Joining the Pittsburgh Symphony are rapper Jecorey “1200” Arthur, singer Malia Cievtz, drummer Gabriel Globus-Hoenich and a 15-person female choir.

Golden Thread Productions returns with its annual celebration of International Women's Day, What Do the Women Say? on Saturday, March 12, at 8pm at La Peña Cultural Center (3105 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley).
