Trinity Repertory Company previously announced that Rhode Island's own Academy Award-nominated actress, Viola Davis, would be honored with the 2012 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 16th annual Pell Awards. Theater educator Elaine Foster Perry will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts, Brown University President Ruth J. Simmons will receive the Pell Award For Leadership in Arts Education, and J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center and Professional Facilities Management, will be honored as the recipient of the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. All awardees are past or current Rhode Islanders.

Tickets are now on sale for the award-winning soloNOVA Arts Festival playing a three-week limited engagement at Off-Broadway's New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street, inside the landmark Archive Building). These performances illustrate TDF's commitment to continuing to present autism-friendly performances in New York City. The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. Kicking off its first upfront season with President and CEO Wonya Lucas at the helm, TV One today unveiled ambitious plans to double the amount of original content during the 2012-2013 television year.

According to The Wall Street Journal, comedian Jerry Lewis revealed on Friday night during celebrations for his 86th birthday, that THE NUTTY PROFESSOR will hit Broadway this fall, with a planned opening of November 15th. The production, which had originally aimed for the 2010/11 season will star entertainer Michael Andrew. Lewis first revealed the production and introduced Andrew back in 2006 while hosting the MDA telethon, video of which apepars below. Lewis also revealed that joining the production team would be choreographer Kathleen Marshall.
