Carnegie Hall presents the renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) led by Music Director Andris Nelsons in three concerts this October. The orchestra's series this season begins on Tuesday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. with the New York premiere of Sebastian Currier's Divisions. Acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis is guest soloist in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37 and the BSO and Mr. Nelsons conclude with a performance of Brahms's Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73.

On Saturday, September 26, Music Director LARRY RACHLEFF and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra welcome LILYA ZILBERSTEIN to The VETS for a performance of Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto. The concert program also features Mussorgsky's Dawn on the Moskva River and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, which caused a riot at its 1913 Paris premiere. The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Andris Nelsons have entered into a new partnership to create Classical Live, a unique initiative that offers a new paradigm for the distribution of live recordings of classical music available only on Google Play Music. Classical Live will offer participating orchestras—the BSO, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra—an opportunity to release up to four live concert recordings each season for download exclusively on Google Play Music with the first recordings to be made available at music.google.com or classical-live.com beginning on June 15.

A luscious new 4K digital restoration of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's 1951 Technicolor film TALES OF HOFFMAN (in English) will be screened at The Cinefamily, March 13 - 19. This new restoration is supervised by Martin Scorsese and Oscar winning editor Thelma Schoonmaker, wife of director Powell and Scorsese's longtime film editor, and contains eight minutes of never before seen footage along with newly restored footage not seen since the 1951 release.

On Saturday, September 27, at 8 p.m., the Boston Symphony Orchestra will shine a welcoming spotlight on Andris Nelsons as he makes his highly anticipated debut as BSO Music Director leading a gala program filled with works and guest artists that have inspired his musical life. When Mr. Nelsons takes on the title of BSO Music Director on September 27, at age 35, he will be the youngest conductor to hold that title with the orchestra in over 100 years. The fifteenth music director since the Boston Symphony Orchestra's founding in 1881, Mr. Nelsons is also the first Latvian-born conductor to assume the post.

Concert aficionados from around the country will want to mark their calendars for Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, when it kicks off its gala 85th Anniversary Season beginning Today, June 7th! To commemorate the milestone, Music Mountain will continue their season past Labor Day - making the 85th Anniversary Season the longest running season since the 1930s!
