BWW Review: WICKED is a Concoction of Memorable Music, Visual Treat
by Vince Vicentuan - Feb 20, 2017

The much-anticipated return of WICKED did not fail to generate the buzz and crowd it was expected to. The throng that trooped to The Theatre at Solaire on February 8 was proof that this hit Broadway musical indeed has a Manila cult following, some of whom wickedly garbed in celebratory costumes, most flamboyant of which was Tessa Prieto-Valdes, a regular on big musical opening nights.

BWW Review: SINGIN' IN THE RAIN International Tour 2015
by Rocky Christopher Fajardo - Sep 9, 2015

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN is theatrical proof of how this age-old formula can work wonders. With syrupy and infectious melodies, stunning choreography and visually-stunning sets, this monumentally theatrical homage to the most beloved classics in the Nacio Brown and Arthur Freed canon perfectly fits the bill for a 'Mary J. Blige Pre-Approved' musical- it is uncomplicated, lavish technicolor entertainment--without the drama.

Reflections: What SINGIN' IN THE RAIN Lacks in Star Power, It Makes Up for In Extended Scenes, Live Spectacle
by Oliver Oliveros - Jul 28, 2015

When compared to SUNSET BOULEVARD, which follows the same classic film-to-stage pedigree as SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and tackles the same dilemma of making the transition from silent films to talkies in the 1920s - albeit of psychological melodrama in genre compared to the latter's rollicking parody - SUNSET BOULEVARD had big stars of stage and screen who headlined West End and Broadway. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN did not delve into such stunt casting from the onset - unless you consider Tommy Steele, who originated the role of Don Lockwood in the West End, as big as Elvis Presley or Gene Kelly, the silver screen's original Lockwood.

BWW Reviews: TAM Stages Compellingly Honest ROMEO AND JULIET
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold - Aug 3, 2014

Doing justice to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, one of the most beloved and most often quoted plays in the repertoire, can be a daunting task, but the Theater at Monmouth has assembled a youthful cast and given the Bard's tragedy an honest reading - one which compensates for what it may lack in passion and abandon with sincerity and moments of striking originality.
