Principal casting has been announced for the upcoming world premiere production of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. The cast will include Robert Fairchild as Jerry Mulligan, Leanne Cope as Lise Dassin, Veanne Cox as Madame Baurel, Jill Paice as Milo Davenport, Brandon Uranowitz as Adam Hochberg, and Max Von Essen as Henri Baurel.

Michigan Shakespeare Festival Announces 20th Season, 7/17-8/17

The Michigan Shakespeare Festival will open their 20th Anniversary Season, July 17, 2014. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, and Shakespeare's romantic adventure Cymbeline will run in repertory for five weeks, July 17 -August 17, 2014.

Perseverance Theatre Set to Open Summerfest '14, 6/28-8/6

Perseverance Theatre (PT) will launch Summerfest '14: a six-week festival of three new plays, two by Alaskan writers and the 2013 Tony Award-winner for Best Play. The Alaska stories include the remount of the world premiere production of The Blue Bear adapted from Southeast writer Lynn Schooler's book, and Warriors, a world premiere by Alaskan author Dave Hunsaker about Alaska Natives in war at different times in history. The third play will be the hilarious 2013 Tony Award winner for Best Play: Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang. In addition to this programming, Perseverance will present public readings of new plays and offer professional training opportunities through its Alaska Summer Theatre Institute. Summerfest runsJune 28 through August 6 at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center (JACC) in Downtown Juneau. Fresh off its recent Tchaikovsky production at BAM Fisher, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents another fully staged theatrical concert interweaving drama and music about one of the most famous trials of the 19th century. Delivered by a top-caliber cast in an intimate setting, The Trial of Oscar Wilde focuses on the tragic shackling, public scrutiny, and subsequent imprisonment of the homosexual playwright/writer Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). A script based on Wilde's correspondence, plays, and short stories (performed by Broadway's Michael Halling as Oscar Wilde and esteemed Robert Ian Mackenzie as Lord Queensbury) provides a dramatic backdrop for chamber music by French and English composers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries including Chausson's masterful Concerto for violin, piano and string quartet, and works by Satie, Elgar, Faure and Franck in performances by the dynamic Amphion String Quartet, violinist Susie Park, pianist Max Barros and a romping barbershop quartet.

New York Philharmonic to Return to Bravo! Vail for 12th Annual Summer Residency, 7/18-25

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 12th- annual summer residency there, performing six concerts July 18-25, 2014. Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct three programs, July 18-20, featuring works by composers for whom he has advocated during his tenure, ranging from Nielsen to The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in- Residence Christopher Rouse. The other Philharmonic concerts will be conducted by Bramwell Tovey (July 23 and 25) and Ted Sperling (July 24), and will feature works by Copland, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Loesser, among others.

National Theatre's Original Stage Production of WAR HORSE Heads to U.S. Theaters Today

Fathom Events, National Theatre Live (NT Live) and BY Experience have come together again to broadcast the National Theatre's original stage production of 'War Horse,' pre-recorded live from London's West End, for only one night in cinemas across the country tonight, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. local time. Based on Michael Morpurgo's novel and adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford, 'War Horse' takes audiences on a journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of France during World War I. Filled with stirring music and songs, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-size puppets by South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to life on stage.
