Finding inspiration in the physical surroundings of her current hometown of Austin, Texas, and drawing upon what jazz critic Harvey Pekar called her 'fertile imagination' as a pianist, composer, and arranger, Peggy Stern has recorded the deepest and most personal album of her distinguished career, 'Z Octet.' Comprised of several of her most poignant compositions, the recording shapes them into a cohesive work of great beauty, color, and tender emotion. Stern's Estrella Productions will release the CD on July 8.

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2016-2017 season will begin with the new musical Come From Away directed by Christopher Ashley. Productions include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? directed by Aaron Posner and featuring Holly Twyford as Martha; the musical Ragtime, directed by Peter Flynn and featuring an all-local cast including Kevin McAllister, Tracy Lynn Olivera and Nova Y. Payton; and the 35th-annual production of Washington's holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol. Political comedian Mark Russell will return for a one-night-only performance during the height of election season.

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced that the Ford's Theatre 2014-2015 season will include mainstage productions of Driving Miss Daisy, headlined by Nancy Robinette and Craig Wallace, the return of Edward Gero as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, the world premiere of The Widow Lincoln by James Still, and a new musical, Freedom's Song, still in development, inspired by the words of Lincoln and those who lived through the Civil War.

Ford's Theatre Society announced that daytime programming for spring 2012 includes the popular History on Foot walking tours and performances of the one-act play One Destiny. The Society also offers a book-signing with historian Michael Burlingame and a presentation by author Anthony Pitch. As part of the 150th anniversary of D.C. Emancipation Day, Ford's Theatre will join forces with Cultural Tourism DC to create a scavenger hunt through the mobile app SCVNGR.

The Ford's Theatre Society will begin performances of the one-act play 'One Destiny' by Richard Hellesen. 'One Destiny' was commissioned by the Ford's Theatre Society to bring the drama and emotion of the American Civil War to life through informative and entertaining theatre. Beginning March 22, the 30-minute play will be offered as part of timed entry to Ford's Theatre and presented in addition to the National Park Service Ranger programs. The Society will offer evening performances of 'One Destiny' from June 8 to June 19. Tickets are required for all performances of 'One Destiny'. Tickets are $6.50 in advance or $5.00 the day of the performance.

The National Park Service and Ford's Theatre Society will commemorate the assassination date of Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 2009, with a 9:00 a.m. wreath-laying and special programming throughout the day, including a discussion and book-signing with Anthony Pitch, (author of 'They Have Killed Papa Dead!'), Ranger-led living history presentations and interpretive talks, and performances of the Society's one-act play 'One Destiny.'
