Damian Woetzel continues his DEMO series uniting artists around a common theme, April 22-23, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. This installment of the multi-genre series features Memphis jookin' dance pioneer Lil Buck, along with fellow jooker Ron "Prime Tyme" Myles, and musicians Sandeep Das (tabla), Johnny Gandelsman (violin), Cristina Pato (gaita), Wu Tong (sheng), David Teie (cello), and singer, song-writer, and multi-instrumentalist Kate Davis. This adventurous cast of musicians and dancers will explore, through their performances, the worlds they came from, collaboratively reinventing their own instruments and art forms around the theme of Place.

Theatre for a New Audience has announced complete casting for A DOLL'S HOUSE, in an adaptation by Thornton Wilder not seen in New York since its Broadway premiere in 1937, and August Strindberg's THE FATHER, in a new version by Scottish author David Greig (Strindberg's Creditors at BAM) commissioned by Theatre for a New Audience.

March 4, 2016 (BOSTON, MA)—Boston Ballet's 52nd season continues with Kaleidoscope, a vibrant fusion of works by the most influential choreographic voices of the 20th century. The first of four works presented in this dynamic program is George Balanchine's Kammermusik No. 2, a “fascinating” and “unremitting” ballet, followed by the dazzling and technically demanding The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude by William Forsythe that returns to Boston Ballet after a critically acclaimed Company premiere last season (Brian Seibert, The New York Times). Adding to the evening's exceptional program is the graceful Pas de Quatre by unsung choreographer Leonid Yakobson, a classically romantic work noted for its “distinctive movement sensibility” (Roslyn Sulcas,The New York Times). Concluding the program is Léonide Massine's colorful Gaîté Parisienne, an effervescent ballet that evokes Moulin Rouge and Paris in the early 1900s, and ends with an unforgettable can-can.  Kaleidoscope will run March 17–26, 2016 at the Boston Opera House. 

The Almeida Theatre announces the cast for the world premiere of Boy, a new play by Leo Butler, directed by Sacha Wares. The cast is Mohammad Amiri, Osmain Baig, Ruby Bridle, Emilio Doorgasingh, Terina Drayton, Aeran Fitzgerald, Frankie Fox, Ellie Mai Gallagher, Bayleigh Gray, Zainab Hasan, Duramaney Kamara, Asiatu Koroma, Wendy Kweh, Lev Litvinov, Georgie Lord, Angel Loren, Teann McDonnell, Eugenie-Alexia Mulumba, Sarah Niles, Demi Papaminas, Imogen Roberts, Abdul Salis, Morgane Tapia,Peter Temple and Matthew Wellard. Boy will run at the Almeida Theatre from 5 April until 28 May, with a Press Night on 12 April.

It's official! The first UK staging of STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL - based on the much loved film that inspired the world to dance - is to premiere at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, on Wednesday 30 November 2016, playing a season through until Saturday 21 January 2017 (Press Night: Tuesday 6 December at 7.30pm).

It is with sadness that the Stratford Festival bids farewell to the man who was Canada's oldest working actor. William Needles died January 12, at the age of 97, surrounded by his family, at a hospice in Alliston, Ontario. Just days earlier, he had left his adopted hometown of Stratford, after suffering a massive heart attack on December 19.

Now entering its 101st season, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene [NYTF] will honor David S. and Sylvia Steiner (joint lead producers on Golda's Balcony starring Tovah Feldshuh for Broadway and Film) at a Gala performance of the lost 1923 Yiddish American Operetta classic THE GOLDEN BRIDE on December 8 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

Now entering its 101st season, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene [NYTF] will present the first contemporary revival of the lost Yiddish American operetta classic THE GOLDEN BRIDE (Di Goldene Kale). Featuring a cast of 20 and an orchestra of 14, this rare glimpse back into musical theater history begins previews tonight, December 2, as part of NYTF's inaugural year in residency at the Museum of Jewish Heritage [MJH]. The production marks the first long-running, full-scale production hosted at the Museum's 375-seat Edmond J. Safra Hall, which will be specially transformed for this ambitious event. Opening night is slated for Wednesday, December 9.

Berkeley Rep presents Shakespeare's dark and violent tragedy on the Roda Stage. This classic exploration of the ominous side of ambition tells the story of a couple bound together in their thirst for the Scottish throne. Driven by an evil prophesy and his scheming wife, Macbeth kills the king and claims his crown, thus beginning a moral descent into a reign of terror. Macbeth starts previews Friday, February 19, 2016 and runs through Sunday, April 10. Press night for Macbeth will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, under the artistic direction of Glenn Edgerton, announces today its second mainstage engagement of the 2015-16 dance season. December 10-13, 2015 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the Season 38 Winter Series featurxes the Hubbard Street premiere and first production by a U.S. dance company of Solo Echo by Crystal Pite, originally created for Nederlands Dans Theater in 2012. Inspired by poet Mark Strand's Lines for Winter and set to excerpts from two sonatas for cello and piano by Johannes Brahms, opuses 38 and 99, Solo Echo is exemplary of the fluidity with which Pite's choreography shifts between dance and theater, using classical and contemporary techniques.
