This fall, contemporary opera producer AMERICAN OPERA PROJECTS (AOP) will present COMPOSERS & THE VOICE: SIX SCENES 2016, a concert of opera scenes from ten artists emerging in the world of contemporary opera. Audiences will get a first look at six wildly different new works that range from imagining moments in the lives of famous people such as Sigmund Freud and Mabel Dodge Luhan or events taking place in a spaceship, an asylum, and a uterus. The composers Matthew Barnson, Carlos R. Carrillo, Nell Shaw Cohen, Marc LeMay, Cecilia Livingston, and Sky Macklay and librettists Edward Einhorn, Duncan McFarlane, Emily Roller, and Mark Sonnenblick, were chosen by AOP to spend a year creating new works in its bi-annual fellowship program Composers & the Voice (C&V).

Blue Note Napa, opening Tuesday, October 25 with GRAMMY winning jazz trumpeter Chris Botti at the historic Napa Valley Opera House in downtown Napa, has announced its culinary team for the first West Coast outpost of the legendary jazz club. Chef Christophe Gerard has been named Blue Note Napa's executive chef, bringing an elegant, yet comfortable and approachable California provencal-style to the Blue Note Napa menu, and Dylan Torcoletti has been hired as General Manager.

With its web of intricately overlapping connections, When the Rain Stops Falling follows four generations of a family from 1959 to 2039, and from London to Australia. As this family and their world evolve over time, one question remains: in the face of climate change, can we break our habits and change the way we live?

Esteemed conductor Sir Simon Rattle concludes his two-season Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall this fall, leading four concerts with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Ensemble Connect, and the Berliner Philharmoniker. Maestro Rattle launched his Perspectives series last November, leading the Berliner Philharmoniker in a Beethoven symphony cycle over five consecutive days.

Weill Hall at Sonoma State University's Green Music Center (GMC) announces plans for the 2016-17 Fifth Anniversary Season Opening Weekend. This October marks Paul Caldwell's very first concert as the new artistic director for Seattle Men's Chorus (SMC) and Seattle Women's Chorus (SWC).
