New York City Ballet announced today that Principal Dancers Jenifer Ringer, Janie Taylor, Sebastien Marcovici, and Jonathan Stafford will retire from the Company during the 2014 Winter and Spring Seasons. All four of these Principal Dancers joined the Company during the 1990s as members of the corps de ballet, and have performed countless roles by numerous choreographers during careers spanning from 15 to 24 years with New York City Ballet.

There will be a memorial celebration for Paul Szilard (Dancer, Producer, Impresario and great friend to the arts) today, October 31st, 2013 at 1:30 pm at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 18th Street, NYC. There will be performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company, The Avlin Ailey American Dance Theater and Universal Ballet's Kirov Academy of Ballet; as well as reflections from some of his friends.

Participants will be LaRue Allen, Executive Director, Martha Graham Dance Company; Adrienne Dellas, Director of the Universal Ballet's Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C.; Calvin Hunt, Senior Director, Performance and Production, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; Judith Jamison, and Artistic Director Emerita, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. There will be performances by members of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performing 'Song for You' and an excerpt from 'Cry'; students from the senior division of the Kirov Academy of Ballet performing the Adagio and Coda from 'Sleeping Beauty'; and members of the Martha Graham Dance Company performing 'Ritual to the Sun' from Acts of Light. The public is invited.

The Civilians, the award-winning New York-based theatre company, announces the members of its 2013-14 R & D Group. The group's emerging and established artists were selected from over one hundred applicants. The R & D Group is comprised of artists from multiple theatrical disciplines. Each artist or creative team will develop an original work over the season. The artists and projects were selected to represent a range of different strategies for making new work from creative inquiry and research. This diversity of approach helps feed a culture of innovation in the group, making the R & D Group an effective lab of experimentation for the field of investigative theater.
