Various artists from the worlds of country, rock, blues, bluegrass and gospel are all banding together to aid victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. A few weeks ago, after the landfall of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, country singer John Berry was scheduled for a writing appointment in Nashville with award-winning songwriter Chuck Jones. The two went into the session with no intentions but walked away with the newly-penned song, 'All Come Together.'

"War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is Strength." Greenway Arts Alliance Presents: George Orwell's 1984, directed by Kate Jopson as the first production of their novel to stage program Greenway Reads. 300 Fairfax High School students are reading the novel and will attend matinee's of the theatrical production. The adaptation by Alan Lyddiard creates an interactive and engaging experience for audience members. Jopson said, "We're trying to create an immersive experience. The elements of the play and its themes are all around us in the real world. We try to emphasize that and as soon as you arrive at the theater there's not anywhere you're not in the set of 1984, even in the lobby and bathrooms."

A new theory about the design of the universe is set out to challenge some widely accepted views in physics. Move aside Einstein, Hawking - there's a new kid in town. Tom James, author of the book 'God Does Not Play Dice' (published by Xlibris), has produced the first ever written account of how the universe works that is complete, unified and that resolves all the key inconsistencies that show up in other theories. While the musical does dramatize the most important event in American history, the story behind the musical is probably just as interesting.
