Ashley C. Wheater, Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, announces the company's 2012-2013 season, launching in the fall with a mixed repertory program featuring James Kudelka's Pretty BALLET and Ji?i Kylian's Forgotten Land, along with the return of Kurt Jooss' anti-war masterpiece The Green Table, celebrating its 80th Anniversary, October 17 - 28, 2012.

With a score that features some of the most beloved songs from the Rodgers and Hammerstein catalogue and a book that some would argue was ahead of its time when the show debuted on Broadway in 1949, South Pacific represents a weighty undertaking for any theatrical troupe, whether on Broadway or on tour. And with the NETWorks tour headed to Nashville for an eight-performance run at Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall, much of that responsibility falls to Katie Reid, who plays Ensign Nellie Forbush, and Sarna Lapine, who's charged with recreating Bartlett Sher's Tony Award-winning direction for the national tour.

A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE cast member Shannon Lewis received the Gypsy Robe and BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

Baz Bamigboye has revealed in the UK Daily Mail today that Daniel Koek will take the stage as Lt. Cable when South Pacific hits the Barbican Theatre in London this summer. The Bartlett Sher production, which opened at Lincoln Center in 2008 and is currently on tour, will also star original Bloody Mary Loretta Ables Sayre and Paulo Szot as Emile DeBecque. The UK's Samantha Womack will play Nellie Forbush.

Tony winner Paulo Szot is set to return to SOUTH PACIF as Emile de Becque in the upcoming London transfer of the 2008 Broadway revival. The production opens at the Barbican Theatre AUgust 15 before beginning a UK tour. Samantha Womack will play Nellie Forbush.

Helen Stenborg, a Tony-nominated, Obie Award-winning actress and long-time spouse of the late Tony Award-winning actor Barnard Hughes, died Tuesday evening, March 22 at her Manhattan apartment. Her son Doug Hughes and daughter Laura Hughes were at her bedside. She was 86.

According to a report by Baz Bamigboye for Daily Mail, Samantha Womack is set to star in the UK tour of SOUTH PACIFIC as 'Nellie Forbush'. The production will be directed by Bartlett Sher, who won a Tony Award for directing the Broadway revival. The six week tour will begin on October 3.

Prejudice, no matter what the decade, still stings. These themes were boldly explored back in 1949, the year the original production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC first wowed audiences. In this new, exquisite, magnificent revival, director Bartlett Sher lets loose an oustanding, revitalized production that is now playing for a two-week engagement at the Orange County Performing Arts Center through October 24. Camp Florida Rep 2010 will open with a one-week intensive, A Fairy Tale Fiasco (June 14-18), where campers will put on a musical showcase featuring the best of 'Fairy Tales'.
