Country artist Shane Owens has released his latest musical project, It's A Southern Thing. It contains six tunes consistent with Owens' traditional country sound with a modern edge, and includes his hit single, “Lie,” which garnered positive reviews from outlets such as Billboard and Rolling Stone Country. As part of its 35thAnniversary celebration, Alonzo King LINES Ballet presents Through-LINES: The Art of Ballet, a retrospective exhibition highlighting the company's outstanding multi-disciplinary collaborations at the non-profit gallery 836M. Developed in partnership with 836M, the exhibition features the work of artists such as photographer RJ Muna, architect Christopher Haas, bio-acoustician Bernie Krause, and visual artist Jim Campbell. Through-LINES is an immersive journey along the creative strands that have sustained the growth of LINES Ballet and the work of its founders, Doris Duke Artist-awardee choreographer Alonzo King and creative director Robert Rosenwasser over more than three decades.

The Kitchen presents Grammy nominee, MacArthur fellow composer-pianist Vijay Iyer's The What of the World (June 25-29), one of three weeklong residencies within The Racial Imaginary Institute's series On Whiteness. Iyer-noted in a New Yorker feature as "the most lauded piano player in jazz"-assembles a jaw-dropping group of cutting-edge artists across musical disciplines and creates what he refers to as an "affective archaeology" of systemic racism. This multifaceted residency is an exploration, from many perspectives, of what racial oppression feels like. Iyer's residency features four evening performances, as well as Iyer's new sound installation-titled How the Spotlight Sounds, with texts by Garnette Cadogan, author of "Walking While Black"-playing throughout the week.

Craft & Care highlights Aguiñiga's practice at the intersection of fiber art, design, social practice, and activism, with a focus on motherhood, care, border issues, and the creation of community-themes that run throughout the artist's work. On view through October 2, the exhibition spotlights AMBOS Project (Art Made Between Opposite Sides), Aguiñiga's ongoing activation of the US-Mexico border.

Sundance Institute's Theatre Lab kicks off on May 6th, and today announced this year's participating acting company and creative advisors. The Lab, which runs through May 27 at the Fellah Hotel outside Marrakech, Morocco, is supervised by Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, and is the centerpiece of the Institute's year-round work with the theatre community, alternating locations between Sundance Resort in Utah and a venue in the Middle East/North African region, as part of a multi-year commitment to international work and a means of facilitating cultural exchange between artists writing in English and Arabic.
