The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) announced casting today for the 2011 Shakespeare in the Park summer season featuring MEASURE FOR MEASURE, directed by David Esbjornson, and ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, directed by Daniel Sullivan, running in repertory June 6 - July 30 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that the famous hate-fest between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis is the inspiration of a new play that could hit the New York scene big as early as 2012. BETTE AND JOAN, as the play is called, receieved a private reading last week directed by Doug Hughes and starred Christine Ebersole (Bette Davis) and Jan Maxwell (Joan Crawford).

The Acting Company will present a staged reading of George S. Kaufman and Ring Lardner's 1929 hit musical June Moon filled with fun, frolic and hit songs such as Button Up Your Overcoat. Tony-winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Dinner Party, The Wedding Singer) will direct Kaufman's great grandson, James Patrick Cronin (Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and National Comedy Theatre) and a cast of Broadway regulars including six Acting Company Alums at the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons at 7pm, Monday, January 24. Tickets for the benefit evening are $35 and $60 and include a reception with the cast following the performance.

The Swing Set, a new album from six-time MAC Award winner Jim Caruso, was released on January 11th. This is Caruso's sophomore album, and his first release under the Yellow Sound Label.
Recently, Broadway favorite - and Caruso fan - Stephanie J. Block (9 to 5, The Pirate Queen, Wicked, The Boy From Oz) spoke with Caruso about creating the album, for which she recorded a guest spot.
