Theatre Seven of Chicago brings together nine talented Chicago's playwrights to commemorate the 100th anniversary of suffrage in Illinois with the world premiere of UNWILLING AND HOSTILE INSTRUMENTS: 100 Years of Extraordinary Chicago Women. Woven together into one full-length work are the incredible stories of Jane Addams, Myra Bradwell, Ann Landers, Mavis Staples, Cora Strayer, Maurine Watkins and Ida B. Wells, directed by Elly Green. A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company led by Producing Artistic Directors Geoff Elliott and Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, continues its 22nd season and the third season in its new Pasadena home with The Guardsman by Ferenc Molnar, translated by Frank Marcus, opening Saturday, October 5 and closing Sunday, November 30, 2013, with previews starting tonight, September 28.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Presents SEDUCTIVE RAVEL This Weekend, September 27-28, 2013, led by guest conductor Roberto Abbado. The performances open with Stravinsky's Violin Concerto in D major featuring violinist Augustin Hadelich, followed by Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé with the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus directed by Lee Erickson. Both concerts include Meet the Music, an interactive pre-concert discussion beginning one hour prior to concert start time in the Anello Atrium.

The Joffrey Ballet kicks off its 2013-14 'Masters of Dance' season with a special addition to its home engagement line-up, a one-weekend-only program titled 'Russian Masters' celebrating the centennial of Vaslav Nijinsky's ground-breaking 1913 ballet Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring), alongside George Balanchine's Allegro Brillante and two works byYuri Possokhov, the Chicago Premiere of Adagio and the return of his 2011 Joffrey commission, Bells. These four powerful works by Russian choreographers and composers are presented in four performances only in the Joffrey's home venue, the historic Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago at 50 E. Congress Parkway, today, September 19 - 22.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced Fasten Your Seatbelts (Part 2): 20th Century Fox (today, August 9-15), a summertime big screen showcase of some of the movie studio's most beloved and unforgettable films. Presented via DCP restorations and beautiful studio library 35mm prints, with a focus on a single artist and their creative contribution to each film, Fasten Your Seatbelts is sure to be a truly rare movie-going event. In the summer of 2010, FSLC presented the first Fasten Your Seatbelts series to coincide with and celebrate 20th Century Fox's 75th Anniversary. The popularity of that series, including screenings of classics like ALL ABOUT EVE, M*A*S*H and ALIEN all but demanded that Film Society and the studio present a 'sequel' at some point.

Today in 1954, Carousel opened at City Center, where it ran for 79 performances. Carousel is the second stage musical by the team of Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (book and lyrics). The work premiered in 1945 and was adapted from Ferenc Molnar's 1909 play Liliom, transplanting its Budapest setting to the Maine coastline. The story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs. He attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child; when it goes wrong, he has a chance to make things right.

The Yale Whiffenpoofs, the nation's premier vocal group and stage and screen star Darren Criss - best known for his role on the Fox TV hit GLEE - will headline a concert to benefit P.S. Arts, which helps bring arts education to underserved public schools. Presented by the Association of Yale Alumni and the Yale Whiffenpoofs Alumni Association the evening will take place tonight, April 14, 2013 at 5:00 PM at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica.
