Turkeys are on-sale at your local supermarket, so there's no better way to know Thanksgiving is just around the corner - yep, less than two weeks away! - which means that local theater companies will be unleashing their holiday season productions with enough productions of A Christmas Story (both the musical and the play), It's A Wonderful Life and Ebenezer Scrooge-led shows that you could shake a stick at!

Thus, we are happy to present the return of one our most popular features: The Nashville Theater Calendar, a comprehensive - maybe even exhaustive (lord knows we're exhausted from putting it together, gathering all the info from all over the interwebs!) - listing of theatrical openings for the 2015/16 season. We'll update the calendar every Monday, clearing out the shows that have closed and adding additional information on the shows still to come. Something's missing? August Wilson play is a superb production.

Everyman Theatre is pleased to announce a special exhibition that will take place at the theatre in conjunction with the current production of August Wilson's Fences. Within Our Gates will examine the lives of African Americans in Baltimore from 1950 to 1965 (the time period of Fences) by using pictures and reprints from The Afro American Newspaper Archives. The exhibition will debut on Saturday, November 7th prior to World of the Play, a panel discussion series that discusses the topics and themes of the play.

An official Art Basel Miami Beach event celebrating its 12th year, Breakfast in the Park happens on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 9:30 a.m. - noon at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU  (map and directions). This year's event presents American sculptor Alice Aycock as guest-speaker, . Ms. Aycock is represented by the Fredric Snitzer Gallery in Miami. The Snitzer Gallery has generously loaned one of Alice Aycock's sculptures to the Museum during Art Basel week for Breakfast in the Park 2015.

A riot of color roars in Miami to usher in Art Basel season as the exhibition Walls of Color: The Murals of Hans Hofmann opens October 10 at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU, the Smithsonian affiliate in Miami (on view through January 3).

With the inclusion of over 60 tunes, Ron Himes has conceived a revue that plays like a musical history lesson, transporting us back to the humble beginnings of R&B, and revealing the lasting impact that these songs have made. The Black Rep opens their season with a classic from their repertoire, and it features an enthusiastic and talented cast that are perfectly capable of recreating these vintage numbers for a new generation to enjoy.
