ENSEMBLE THEATRE COMPANY (ETC) presents the fourth show of its 40th Anniversary Season, the Southern California premiere of the stunning and wildly popular novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED, adapted by Simon Block and directed by Jonathan Fox.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a cult classic. People who love this musical don't just love the musical, they LOVE the musical. I, myself, have had a long time love affair with Sondheim's work. Stephen Sondheim has changed the American musical forever. As I sat in the audience on opening night of Zoetic Stage's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Arsht Center, a show I have seen many times, I threw the proverbial gauntlet at the director, Stuart Meltzer. I thought to myself, show me something I haven't seen before.

The treasured tale by Hans Christian Andersen of a wise bird that helps save a kingdom gets a new twist in this adaptation set in 18th-century China. The West Coast Premiere of The Emperor's Nightingale by Damon Chua, directed by Tim Dang, opens May 4th and runs through May 19th at the Lewis Family Playhouse. Tickets are priced at $18.00 for General admission, and $16.00 for Seniors and Youth up to age 12.

The New York Pops, led by Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, gives a concert entitled Movie Mixtape: Songs from the Silver Screen, today, March 15 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, joined by acclaimed vocalists Mykal Kilgore, Storm Large, Ashley Park, and Ryan Silverman. The orchestra performs iconic songs from beloved movies include 'Over the Rainbow' from The Wizard of Oz, 'Moon River' from Breakfast at Tiffany's, 'The Way We Were' from The Way We Were, and 'Footloose' from Footloose.

Forty years ago, the legendary Stephen Sondheim musical 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' attended the tale for the first time on Broadway starring Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury. In honor of the occasion, we're throwing it back to the opening night of show's 2005 Broadway revival starring Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone. Joining the previously announced Terence Frisch (Sidney) and Jill McAusland (Jane) are Oliver Longstaff (Geoffrey), Emily Tucker (Eva), Sarah Quist (Marion) and Walter van Dyk (Ronald). The production, directed by Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Watford Palace Theatre, Brigid Larmour, opens on 12 March, with previews from 7 March and runs until 30 March.

Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for its production of the international megahit Mamma Mia!, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bj rn Ulvaeus, some songs with Stig Anderson, and book by Catherine Johnson. Originally conceived by Judy Craymer, Mamma Mia! is directed by Artistic Director William Osetek and choreographed by Jane Lanier with music direction by Roberta Duchak. Mamma Mia! runs February 7 April 14, 2019, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at 8:00 p.m.

Bard College announces the appointment of celebrated opera singer and recitalist Stephanie Blythe as artistic director of the Bard College Conservatory of Music Graduate Vocal Arts Program (VAP) beginning in July 2019. One of the most highly respected and critically acclaimed artists of her generation, mezzo-soprano Blythe possesses a repertoire ranging from Handel to Wagner and from German lieder to contemporary and classic American song. Blythe has performed on many of the world's great stages, such as Carnegie Hall; the Metropolitan Opera; Covent Garden; Paris National Opera; and San Francisco, Chicago Lyric, and Seattle Operas. She was named Musical America's Vocalist of the Year, received an Opera News Award, and won the Richard Tucker Award. Blythe recently released her first crossover recording on the Innova label with pianist Craig Terry.

For this week's throwback, we are highlighting the 2006 Broadway revival of Company that opened on this day, November 29th, starring Raúl Esparza as Bobby, as well as Barbara Walsh as Joanne. Currently running on the West End is a reimagining of the musical with Rosalie Craig as Bobbie and Patti LuPone as Joanne! Laura Michelle Kelly, the Olivier Award winning musical theatre actress who won critical acclaim for her lead role in Disney's triumphant London stage production of Mary Poppins, returns to the UK in 2019 to perform at London's Cadogan Hall. The show which is produced by Club 11 London and Tony Award-winning Brian Zeilinger & Jack Maple for Take Two Theatricals will take place on Sunday 24 February 2019 at 6.30 pm. Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.
