Centenary Stage Company launches 2017 - 18 professional theatre season October 6 through 22 in the Lackland Performing Arts Center with Freyda Thomas' hilarious reimagining of Moliere's penultimate screwball comedy, The Learned Ladies.

Ralph Miller, owner of the Bucks County Playhouse, is facing some financial difficulties at the moment. He has made one sole mortgage payment in over a year, and has declared bankruptcy to avoid selling the playhouse in August. Similar stories are appearing across the country as owners struggle to maintain their businesses in this economy, but Miller's case seems a bit more complicated than that: this is his third bankruptcy since 1992.

Stone, who is a frequent collaborator with Old Globe Associate Artist Nicholas Martin, will base this production on his Tony-nominated Broadway direction. Martin had been previously announced to return to San Diego to direct but had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts. The Old Globe's 100th anniversary production of the George Bernard Shaw classic Pygmalion stars Tony Award winner Robert Sean Leonard (The Invention of Love, Born Yesterday) as Professor Henry Higgins and Charlotte Parry (The Importance of Being Earnest, The Real Thing) as Eliza Doolittle. The production coincides with the 100th anniversary of Pygmalion's 1913 premiere in Vienna, Austria. Directed by Nicholas Martin (Butley, Present Laughter), Pygmalion will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, through Feb. 17, 2013. The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) has announced that Broadway veterans Jason Alexander ("Seinfeld," Jerome Robbins' Broadway) and Tovah Feldshuh (Golda's Balcony, Irena's Vow) will star in the season opener of the Winter 2013 Musicals in Mufti Series: Two By Two, with Book by Peter Stone, Lyrics by Martin Charnin and Music by the legendary Richard Rodgers. Broadway producer and and actress Haila Stoddard passed away on February 21 in her Connecticut home. She was 97 years old.

Bucks Country Playhouse owner/producer Ralph Miller has just announced that he will be resigning from his post of the historic theater after 35 years due to financial troubles. His struggles to maintain the theater financially began in 2008.

After the resignation of owner/producer Ralph Miller, the Bucks County Playhouse will be officially taken over by a slew of theatre professionals and notable New Hope residents. The takeover of the 450 seat, historic venue occurs after recently being repossesed by Stonebridge bank. Renovation plans are in store for the historic theatre, which will be headed by the newly developed Bucks County Playhouse Conservancy.
