As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today. This new production of Hello, Dolly!, the first new production of this classic musical to appear on Broadway since it opened more than fifty years ago, will have at its helm Jerry Zaks as its director, and will feature choreography by Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle. Judson Theatre Company (Morgan Sills, Executive Producer and Daniel Haley, Artistic Director) has announced the stars of their Fifth Anniversary Season: John Davidson in On Golden Pond and John Wesley Shipp in Twelve Angry Men. The National New Play Network (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, has added its 30th and 31st Core Members: Mo'olelo Performing Arts Company (San Diego, CA) and Perseverance Theatre (Anchorage and Juneau, AK). The decisions were made by the organization's Board of Directors at its Annual Conference on June 11 in Watertown, MA, hosted by Core Member New Repertory Theatre.
