The Colorado Music Festival today announced the appointment of conductor Peter Oundjian as its next Music Director. He is the fourth person to hold this title in the 42-year history of the festival, which is held for six weeks each year at the Colorado Chautauqua, a National Historic Landmark at the foot of the rugged Flatirons. Mr. Oundjian led the 2018 festival as Artistic Advisor, and his appointment as Music Director was announced along with the festival's 2019 season, which runs from June 27 to August 3 and explores the legacy of Beethoven.

In April 2018, the New World Symphony joined The Sphinx Organization and the League of American Orchestras in announcing their new partnership, the National Alliance for Audition Support (NAAS), which is a field-wide initiative with the long-term goal of increasing diversity in American orchestras. Supported by a four-year, $1.8 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Alliance offers a holistic and personalized array of support to Black and Latinx musicians to develop their audition skills, increase their participation in auditions, and ultimately, increase their representation in orchestras.

Jazz at Atlas (JAA) will present life-long Hudson Valley resident and celebrated trumpeter, cornetist and composer Ted Daniel and his ensemble, the International Brass & Membrane Corps (IBMC), at Atlas Studios, 11 Spring St. in Newburgh on Saturday, July 21 at 8 PM. General admission is $20 at the door. No advance tickets will be available.

From June 5-24, 2018, Orchestra of St. Luke's will present Facets of Brahms, the second iteration of the Ensemble's chamber music festival. The three programs, featuring the Orchestra's core 23-member St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, are curated to highlight different perspectives on the musical life of the composer and include Seasons of Brahms, June 5, 6, and 10; Brahms & The Schumanns, with pianist Pedja Muzijevic, June 12, 13, and 17; and Brahms & the Search for a Symphony, June 19, 20, and 24. Discussions led by noted scholars, and musicians will take place prior to each Brahms program.

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 43rd season continues in 2018 with 43 performances in 10 venues throughout New York City.
