Christine Baranski, Irina Dvorovenko, Shonn Wiley to Star in ON YOUR TOES

Christine Baranski, Kelli Barrett, Walter Bobbie, Jeremy Cohen, Dalton Harrod, Randy Skinner, Shonn Wiley, Karen Ziemba,New York City Ballet Principaldancer Joaquin De Luz and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Irina Dvorovenkowill star in Rodgers and Hart's On Your Toes, the final Encores! presentation of the 2012-13 New York City Center season. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, On Your Toes will have guest music direction by Encores! founding music director Rob Fisher and will play seven performances, from May 8 - 12 at New York City Center, W. 55th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). The "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet, originally choreographed by George Balanchine, will be staged by Susan Pilarre, who served as a Ballet Mistress of the show's 1983 Broadway Revival.

Hartford Stage Announces Summer Studio Education Programs

Hartford Stage announces The Summer of Seuss, summer youth education programs. Young actors ages 3-17 can join Hartford Stage teaching artists for full day or half day classes in one, two or four week programs in multiple techniques including improvisation, storytelling, dance, and arts and crafts. All classes (except Summer Bookends) take place at Classical Magnet School at 85 Woodland Street in Hartford. Summer Bookends will take place at the Hartford Stage Rehearsal Studios at 942 Main Street in Hartford.

Drury Lane Theatre Presents SEUSSICAL, Opening 4/24

SEUSSICAL, the exuberant children's musical, will be presented from April 24 through June 1 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane. The whimsical production, based on over 14 beloved stories by children's author Dr. Seuss, is Directed and Choreographed by Jeff Award-winner Rachel Rockwell, with Musical Direction by Michael Mahler. Drury Lane Theatre also offers families the special opportunity to meet the cast at breakfast with the SEUSSICAL characters on select performance dates, with a kid-friendly buffet-style menu.

ANYTHING GOES Tour Comes to Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall, 4/16-21

Join Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and the Cat in the Hat in this musical adventure through the limitless imagination of Dr. Seuss. From the tiny land of Who-Ville to the Jungle of Nool, Seuss's timeless tales leap from page to stage. Seussical first opened on Broadway in the fall of 2000. In 2004, it was reworked by Theatreworks USA, streamlining the story and retooling some of the songs and dialogue. The new version has enjoyed huge success across two US tours, a run in London's West End, and in children's theaters across the country, including NWCT, which previously produced the show in 2006. Producers of THE ADDAMS FAMILY announced additional dates today for the Fall 2012 leg of the musical's North American tour. The production will play Dallas (Oct. 2 - 21), Seattle (Oct. 24 - Nov. 11), Salt Lake City (Nov. 13 - 18), Las Vegas (Nov.20 - 25), Tempe (Dec. 11 - 16) and Costa Mesa (Dec. 18 - 30). Plus, Curtis Holbrook (West Side Story, Xanadu) will join the cast of the national tour as "Lucas Beineke."

"Sex is in the Heel," a new single remix by Grammy® Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper, composer of the new Broadway-bound musical Kinky Boots, has hit the Top Ten (#6) position on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Top 200 chart this week. The energetic love letter to fancy footwear, which shares the Top Ten this week with Madonna, Usher and the Scissor Sisters, is the first single from a Broadway show to top the dance charts in more than 25 years.

"Seussical" opens at NTC at 8:00 pm tonight, August 30. This zany musical debuted on Broadway in 2000 and has been a favorite with children and regional theatres ever since. The music was written by Lynn Aherns and Stephen Flaherty, who also wrote "Ragtime," which Newnan High School performed this past spring. Below are interviews with the show's director, Dave Dorrell, and choreographer Emily Moore.
