Members of the New Hope Community, including New Hope Borough Mayor Larry Keller, joined with Bucks County Playhouse in celebrating the success of the current production of "42nd Street" - the largest production in the Playhouse's history - by ceremonially renaming Main Street in honor of the show.

Citadel Theatre Company, an Equity-affiliated professional company performing in Lake Forest, IL, has announced its 16thseason. The four-show subscription season will include the Lillian Hellman classic THE LITTLE FOXES, a holiday production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, a contemporary American comedy-drama to be announced, and the world premiere of Ross Lehman's SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY, a one-man musical remembrance about his parents and their WWII era romance.

As the Winter Gardens Blackpool today celebrates its 140th anniversary, plans have been unveiled revealing a partnership between global producers Selladoor Worldwide and operators Blackpool Entertainment Company to bring a fresh lease of creative life to the historic Pavilion Theatre, based within the grade 2* listed venue. During this joint venture, Selladoor Worldwide will lead on programing the space with both produced and received work, whilst Winter Gardens Blackpool will focus on the renovations to save and restore the theatre back to its full former glory for future generations to enjoy.

With a tap-happy cast and a score chock-filled with American songbook classics, Bucks County Playhouse presents the quintessential backstage musical comedy '42nd Street' through August 4, 2018. Richard Kessler, Dean of Mannes School of Music and Executive Dean of the College of Performing Arts at The New School, announced today the appointment of Emma Griffin as the Managing Artistic Director of the Mannes Opera. Griffin, whose hiring is the result of an international search, succeeds Joseph Colaneri, who stepped down as Artistic Director of The Mannes Opera after a highly successful 20 year tenure.

Musical Theater Heritage presents a super re-imagination of Andrew Lloyd Weber's 1982 'Cats.'  This show is a two magical hours that will be savored by its audiences.  Director Tim Scott has built a team of designers, actors, dancers, and musicians who would be tough to match on any stage.  'Cats' is total ensemble producing.

For certain xenophobic East Coast opera lovers, the words 'St.Louis' and 'Opera' could seem like an oxymoron. However, this would be an invalid assumption.

San Domino is the story of a group of men sentenced to five years confinement for degeneracy on the island fortress of San Domino, with actor-musicians conjuring up an intimate tragi-comic world of love, loss and the struggle just to survive.

A classic tap-happy musical and a new production of a legendary Broadway comedy are highlights of Bucks County Playhouse's 2018 Season. The Juilliard School today announced that alumnus Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter, director of Juilliard Jazz Studies, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, will address the graduates at the school's 113th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Mr. Marsalis received an honorary doctor of music degree from Juilliard in 2006. This will be the final commencement for Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, who has had a long association with Mr. Marsalis and asked that he be the commencement speaker. In July, Damian Woetzel will begin as the school's seventh president.

What our schoolbooks lack in historical accuracy, art can sometimes pick up the slack by being a reliable, more enthusiastic source to fill in those gaps. This becomes abundantly clear immediately upon experiencing the haunting yet beautifully-dramatized world premiere play LITTLE BLACK SHADOWS, Kemp Powers' captivating new drama under the astute direction of May Adrales, that is now continuing its final set of performances at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa through April 29. Visually striking and richly layered, the play piques the audience's curiosity with its riveting storytelling while educating them on a side of American slavery that most probably didn't know too much about before.

On Friday, May 4 TheatreWorks New Milford will premiere Mel Brooks' Zany movie-turned-musical musical, Young Frankenstein.The curtain rises at 8:00 p.m. every Friday and Saturday and 2:00pm on some Sundays through June 2.

Lou Volpe, the retired theatre education pioneer was recently inducted into the prestigious Bucks County Playhouse Hall of Fame, following such honorees as Angela Lansbury, Oscar Hammerstein and Shirley Jones. A formal ceremony was held on April 14 at the historic playhouse. Volpe, whose career is the inspiration behind "Rise," the new TV series on NBC, was heralded for his life's work as a high school drama teacher at Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, PA. During his tenure there, he transformed this Bucks County community with the magic of theater.

Folks Operetta is proud to announce its 2018 season and a new fundraising campaign, The Korngold Initiative. All of these projects are part of their new Reclaimed Voices Series, which focuses on recovering and reviving the lost music of the Jewish composers of the Second World War.

Blackfriars Theatre is thrilled to present the 2018-2019 artistic season. The 2017-2018 season saw record growth and momentum under current Artistic & Managing Director, Danny Hoskins. Over 1500 Rochester residents attended the holiday production of Little Women, The Musical, Broadway's Rick Lyon will bring the original Broadway puppets to the theatre's upcoming production of Avenue Q, and for the first time in the theatre's 68-year history Blackfriars has added a third full time staff member.

Now onstage at Brentwood's Towne Centre Theatre, Ludwig's Shakespeare in Hollywood (not to be confused with the musical Shakespeare in Love, which is based on an Oscar-winning film) once again takes audiences to 1934 to tell the story of the mirthful hijinks surrounding Austrian stage director Max Reinhardt's efforts to film an adaptation of his Hollywood Bowl production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Reinhardt's film treatment of the work is, perhaps, more critically acclaimed now than when it was first released back during the heady days of Hollywood's golden era and the director has been lauded with praise for his one and only film that starred several silver screen legends in roles that went creatively against type, presenting the actors with tremendous challenges.
