The Civilians, under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director Steve Cosson and Managing Director Margaret Moll, is proud to present the world premiere of Paul Swan is Dead and Gone by Claire Kiechel, a former member of The Civilians' R&D Group where the play was first developed. Directed by Cosson and starring Tony Torn as the real-life Paul Swan, the production marks Kiechel's New York debut and runs April 25 - May 19, with an opening night set for May 1. For an audience of only 30, the intimate and immersive performance takes place at Torn Page (435 West 22nd Street, Manhattan), a salon-style performance space located inside a historic Chelsea townhouse originally purchased by Torn's parents, Geraldine Page and Rip Torn.

dick clark productions and NBC today announced nominees for the "2019 Billboard Music Awards," which honors the year's most successful artists in 56 categories across all genres of music.  "2019 Billboard Music Awards" host Kelly Clarkson and chart-topping duo Dan + Shay, kicked off the nominations this morning, live on NBC's "Today."  Last year's Top Rap Female Artist winner, Cardi B, leads the pack with 21 nods, followed by Drake and Post Malone, each with 17.  Other nominees and possible record-breakers include Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Travis Scott and XXXTENTACION. 

Impeaching America is an allegorical political satire about AMERICA who is confused, frustrated, disillusioned and just plain tired.  His solution is to impeach himself.  He wants to quit, but he wants to quit with Honor and with the Due Process as provided for within his document of creation: the Constitution.  He initiates the proceeding by selecting a Bi-Bunal (he wanted to get three, but for many reasons, no one else wanted to do it) consisting of Godd and Satann to determine his/our fate.  He is defended by three attorneys: a liberal, a conservative and a voice of reason. 

After over 60 years of traveling, Bluegrass luminary,SPBGMA Preservation Hall of Greats inductee, and longstanding host of the award-winning“Reno's Old Time Music” television show, Ronnie Reno announced today that he will retire at the close of 2019 and hang up his hat.

I have been a huge fan of both Wil Love and Carl Schurr for many years. They are currently both performing in Everyman Theatre's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST which ends its run Dec. 30, 2018. They have become two patriarchs of the Baltimore theatre scene. Since their meeting at Center Stage in 1971, they have performed, produced, and adapted hundreds of performances both regionally and nationally. Now in their 10th year as Resident Company Members at Everyman Theatre, Wil and Carl have plenty of war stories and advice to share. I connected with these two venerable performances to learn more about their story.

On October 12-14, Theatre West hosts "To Dad with Love: A Tribute to Buddy Ebsen," starring Kiki Ebsen.Accompanied by four of Los Angeles' premiere jazz musicians, Kiki shares the story of Buddy Ebsen's seven-decade entertainment career through songs, poignant stories, and Dustin Ebsen's media montage that details her father's life. 

11th Hour Theatre Company brings its consistently sold out concert series back home and as the series begins its 2018-2019 season it has grown. 11th Hour's Next Step Concert Series is now set to run over two weekends. They begin their season with a concert performance of Grey Gardens. Grey Gardens features Music by Scott Frankel, Lyrics by Michael Korie and a Book by Doug Wright. 11th Hour Theatre Company Associate Artistic Director and Co-Founder Steve Pacek directs.  Amanda Morton is the Music Director. Grey Gardens runs October 6-14. Blasting off the festival in its 14th year will be the U.S. Premiere of David Gordon Green's razor-sharp new contribution to the HALLOWEEN canon with legendary actor Jamie Lee Curtis—along with HALLOWEEN producers Malek Akkad, Jason Blum and Bill Block in attendance! Luke Null will not be returning to Saturday Night Live this fall for its 44th season, according to Vulture. Null awas hired as a featured player for the 43rd season.

On July 1, 1968, The Band's landmark debut album, Music from Big Pink, seemed to spring from nowhere and everywhere. Drawing from the American roots music panoply of country, blues, R&B, gospel, soul, rockabilly, the honking tenor sax tradition, hymns, funeral dirges, brass band music, folk, and rock 'n' roll, The Band forged a timeless new style that forever changed the course of popular music. Fifty years later, the mythology surrounding Music from Big Pink lives on through the evocative storytelling of its songs including 'The Weight,' 'This Wheel's On Fire,' 'Tears of Rage,' and 'To Kingdom Come,' its enigmatic cover art painted by Bob Dylan, the salmon-colored upstate New York house - 'Big Pink' - where The Band wrote the songs, and in myriad descendant legends carried forth since the album's stunning arrival.
