IMPEACHING AMERICA Comes to The Belrose Theater In February

Impeaching America is an allegorical political satire about AMERICA who is confused, frustrated, disillusioned and just plain tired. His solution is to impeach himself. He wants to quit, but he wants to quit with Honor and with the Due Process as provided for within his document of creation: the Constitution. He initiates the proceeding by selecting a Bi-Bunal (he wanted to get three, but for many reasons, no one else wanted to do it) consisting of Godd and Satann to determine his/our fate. He is defended by three attorneys: a liberal, a conservative and a voice of reason.

With humor and insight, Impeaching America shows no favoritism or bias other than to expose and condemn arrogance, pride, willful ignorance, hypocrisy, lies and oppression. It's about the evolution of our democracy and freedom and how and why we are in this dreadful mess today.

Playwright Elizabeth Cady grew up as the eldest son of a well-regarded orthopedic surgeon in the US Navy in San Diego, California.

She attended Oregon State University from 1970-1975 and obtained full degrees in History, Political Science and Economics. After, she received her law degree and was admitted to the California Bar in 1978. But her career and political life changed with her disillusionment in 1994 with The Contract with America and she quit her law practice to concentrate on being happy.

Elizabeth was interested in creative writing and began writing screenplays in the 1980's: one about the violent history of the labor movement in the United States told in a courtroom setting detailing the uncaring brutality of the struggle between the haves and the have-nots; another a fantasy battle between the forces of good and evil taking place in hell; another a study of the history of violence in America and in the world, set in a bar; a Christmas family fantasy; the mostly true story of Young Tom Morris and the beginnings of golf in St. Andrews, Scotland from 1851-1875; and a stage-play with a theme centered around international relations, and the silly notions of war and peace.

Elizabeth was assigned a female brain at birth with it taking up residence in the body of a white, middle-class male who was selected as the best all-around athlete in a high-school of 3,500. She started her "transition" in 2012 and is currently an optimistic transgender female playwright trying to make the world a better place.

JOEY HOEBER - Director

Joey has been in the "business" for 45 plus years and has been involved in all facets of theatre and film including producing, directing and acting in NYC & Woodstock, NY. Performing in NorCal began nearly 8 years ago with Ross Valley Players playing Norman the philanderer in Table Manners by Alan Ayckbourn. In 2012 for Sonoma Stage Works played Bill, the corrupt NYC Cop in Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan. Since then he's been behind the scenes directing for Sonoma Stage Works an original play by Todd Evans, Troublesome Creek and compilation piece called The Many Faces of Love, he then started JoLee productions and produced & directed Jake Women by Neil Simon and then directed several seasons for Sonoma Arts Live including Same Time Next Year, by Bernard Slade, I Hate Hamlet by Paul Rudnick and The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney.

RANDI ACTON -- Producer, Casting Director

A Bay-Area native and mother of three, Randi is a Meisner-trained actor and teacher with over 20 years of wide-ranging experience in the film industry. She has worked on film projects with the likes of Francis Ford-Coppola and Robin Williams and spent years directing press junkets coordinating with A-list talent. Her filmography spans the gamut of production roles with credits as executive producer, producer, line producer, unit production manager, first assistant director and casting director. She has dealt with overseeing virtually all aspects of production from top to bottom. Notable credits include executive producing, "Enter The Fire" "Female Fight Club" and "Something About Her" (starring Anthony Michael Hall) and producing "Black Limousine" (starring David Arquette and Vivica A. Fox), all of which secured distribution from Cineville.
