Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre honors one of the most important playwrights of the late 20th century with Hearing Noise in the Silence: A Celebration of the Life and Theatre of Harold Pinter.

The Public Theater has announced additional casting for the 2010 Shakespeare in the Park summer season featuring THE WINTER'S TALE, directed by Michael Greif, and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, directed by Daniel Sullivan, in repertory June 9-August 1.

Following a sold-out, eight week run at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson), Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced today that they will transfer Daniel Sullivan's critically acclaimed production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE to Broadway this fall. Al Pacino will reprise his celebrated performance as Shylock for 78 performances only, beginning Tuesday, October 19 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street) and running through Sunday, January 9. Complete casting to be announced at a later date.

As in the initial New York staging of the play by Nora and Delia Ephron, the production will feature a company of six that rotates in four-week cycles. Th U.K.'s Screen Daily is reporting that Al Pacino will portray King Lear in a new film adaptation directed by Michael Radford. The two have previously collaborated on the film version of The Merchant of Venice (Pacino will deliver a second rendition of his Shylock live in Merchant for Shakespeare in the Park this summer). The film will begin filming in the U.K. in 2011.

According to Variety, stage and screen veterans Brian Dennehy and Dianne Wiest have officially been cast in A Big Year, directed by David Frankel. Dennehy and Wiest join an all-star cast, including Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Anjelica Huston, among others.

The New York Philharmonic will present The Russian Stravinsky: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by Valery Gergiev on April 21-May 8, 2010. The three-week festival - one of several initiatives launched during Alan Gilbert's first season as Music Director - will offer an in-depth look at Stravinsky, exploring how his Russian roots informed his works. Led by the Russian-born Mr. Gergiev, the festival will feature eight programs over three weeks, including concerts, lectures, pre-concert talks, radio broadcasts, podcasts and an Archives exhibit.

Two-time Academy Award-winner Albert Wolsky will receive the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer and educator Ming Cho Lee will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L.B.
