Goodman Theatre announces the lineup of its 14th annual New Stages Festival - a celebration and discovery of new work by some of the country's finest established and emerging playwrights. Over the course of three weeks, the annual festival offers Chicago theatergoers a first look at eight new works, completely free-of-charge.

NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance will present Lerner and Loewe's Brigadoon from September 21 25, 2017. The show features book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Renowned dancer and choreographer Agnes de Mille created the original dances. NYU Steinhardt's MK Lawson directs and choreographs.

Goodman Theatre will continue its collaboration with Chicago's Alphawood Gallery with the new writing workshop series, "I am the Darker Brother: Demonization and the Demise of Civil Liberties," this fall. Led by Chicago-based teaching artist Deb Lewis, participants use Langston Hughes' poem, "I, Too" as inspiration to explore what being an "American" means, and the responsibilities that freedom of speech engender.

A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) announces its 2017-2018 Season. From September 2017 through May 2018, the Chamber Orchestra will perform six programs as part of its subscription series. All six concert pairs will be performed in the Kimmel Center's intimate Perelman Theater.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado, celebrating its 30th season, for the Orchestra's 15th annual summer residency, July 21-28, 2017. The residency will include six orchestral concerts that honor the Philharmonic's legacy on the occasion of its 175th anniversary season and the conclusion of Alan Gilbert's tenure as Music Director.

Beginning in the 2017/2018 season, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia will be orchestra-in-residence at the Annenberg Center.

More than 60 Chicagoland teenagers will perform in two final showcases at Goodman Theatre to conclude the theater's summer programming-Playbuild Youth Intensive and Musical Theater Intensive-on August 11 and 12 at 7pm. Both programs were offered free of charge and taught over a course of seven-to-eight weeks in the Alice Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement ("the Alice"). This year's theme, "What it Means to be an American," uses Langston Hughes' poem "I too, Sing America" as inspiration. The final performances are scheduled for Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12 at 7pm at Goodman Theatre (170 N. Dearborn). This summer, Goodman Theatre and the Center for Performance and Civic Practice (CPCP) present four one-day capacity building workshops focused on creative change tactics for members of Chicago's communities. These sessions are part of NOURISH-a multi-year initiative between the Goodman and CPCP to develop a greater capacity for arts-based community-led transformation-led by Walter Director of Education and Engagement Willa J. Sharon Playhouse has announced complete casting for its 2017 Season. The season kicks off with MINOR CHARACTER: SIX TRANSLATIONS OF UNCLE VANYA, created by New Saloon (Morgan Green, Madeline Wise, and Milo Cramer), followed by FAR AWAY by Caryl Churchill (Love and Information). The season will conclude with a new, intimate chamber production of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. In a shift that begins this season, Morgan Green (William Shakespeare's Mom) will direct all three productions, showcasing the talents and range of the rising director.
