La MaMa to Feature MEDEA, LIFELINE, and More in 2011-12 Season

La MaMa, the world-renowned downtown theatre founded by the late Ellen Stewart, will celebrate is 50th anniversary season in 2011-12 -- entitled 'Homecomings' - with a two day celebration on October 16th and 17th 2011: The La MaMa 50 World Block Party and The La MaMa 50 Gala. The festivities kick off with the La MaMa 50 World Block Party on Sunday, October 16 from 2 to 6pm on the block of East 4th Street (between the Bowery and Second Avenue in Manhattan) that is home to La MaMa's three performance spaces, and where Ms. Stewart herself resided for many years before her death in January 2011.

High Line Art Features ROOF PIECE, 6/9-10

High Line Art, presented by Friends of the High Line, and the Trisha Brown Dance Company are pleased to present Trisha Brown's seminal work Roof Piece as part of High Line Art's spring 2011 program. The event marks the culmination of the 40th anniversary of the Trisha Brown Dance Company and the first time the piece will be performed in its original context, outdoors on rooftops, since its premiere in 1971. Trisha Brown's Roof Piece will be performed on roofs of buildings surrounding the southern section of the High Line on June 9 and 10 at 7:00pm, and twice on June 11 at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, June 12th.

Englert Theatre Announces First Fall Shows

The Englert Theatre is excited to announce the first batch of shows for the Fall Season. The schedule includes Grammy award winning folk artist Janis Ian, An Evening with Judy Collins, Steve Earle and the Dukes (and Duchesses) featuring Allison Moorer, The Miles Davis Experience 1949 - 1959, and the Alloy Orchestra performing a live score to Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

Sheldon Art Galleries in Collaboration with Cinema St. Louis Presents VINCENTENNIAL: THE LEGACY OF VINCENT PRICE 4/22-8/6

In collaboration with Cinema St. Louis, the Sheldon Art Galleries presents the exhibition Vincentennial: The Legacy of Vincent Price from April 22 - August 6, 2011. A free opening reception at the Sheldon Art Galleries will be held on Friday, April 22, from 6 - 8 p.m. Cinema St. Louis will hold a Vincentennial film festival from May 19 - May 28, 2011.
