This weekend, September 20, 21 and 22, the Houston Symphony will welcome back former music director Lawrence Foster and superstar of the violin Joshua Bell for a concert featuring Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, a musical masterpiece complete with heartbreaking melodies and fiery virtuosity. The Houston Symphony will also perform Mussorgsky's Dance of the Persian Maidens fromKhovantchina, Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves from Sir John in Love and Elgar's Enigma Variations, which paints musical portraits of 14 of Elgar's dearest friends.

The full cast of Disney's Aladdin, a new musical based on the Academy Award winning animated film, began rehearsals today in New York City. Aladdin will launch at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre (formerly the Canon) November 1, 2013 to January 5, 2014. Opening night there is November 21, 2013. William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, today announces plans to publish the first-ever new Agatha Christie novel, fully authorized by the Christie estate, to be penned by international bestseller Sophie Hannah. The deal for World English rights was negotiated by Daniel Mallory, VP, Executive Editor at William Morrow, and David Brawn, Estates Publisher at HarperCollins UK with Hilary Strong, Managing Director at Christie rights manager Acorn Productions Ltd/Agatha Christie Ltd, the UK based rights holding production arm of RLJ Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq:RLJE) and Hannah's agent Peter Straus at Rogers, Coleridge & White. The novel will be published in September 2014 by HarperCollins worldwide.

The Kennedy Center hosts its 12th annual Page-to-Stage new play festival from Saturday, August, 31 to Monday, September 2, 2013, featuring more than 40 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work. The three-day, Center-wide event offers a series of free readings and open rehearsals of plays and musicals being developed by local, regional, and national playwrights, librettists, and composers.
