Jori Arancio, former Senior Vice President, Communications, ABC & ABC Studios, has been named Executive Vice President, Communications, HBO Max, TNT, TBS & truTV, it was announced today by Kevin Brockman, Executive Vice President, Global Communications, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer, to whom she will report. In this role, Arancio will be the communications point for the entertainment units under Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer HBO Max & President TNT, TBS & truTV, working closely with his teams.  Her first day in the new job will be Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

Drury Lane Theatre has announced casting for the final show in its 2019/2020 season, the Regional Premiere of the beautifully captivating Gershwin musical An American in Paris. Leading the cast are Josh Drake as American GI Jerry Mulligan and Leigh-Ann Esty as Lise Dassin. Drake can currently be seen on Broadway in Disney's Aladdin, and Esty returns to An American in Paris after playing the role of Lise on the show's national tour. This Tony Award-winning musical features music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin with book by Craig Lucas and is directed and choreographed by Lynne Kurdziel-Formato. An American in Paris runs January 31 a?" March 29, 2020, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 8:00 p.m.

Liz Kathman Grubow, president of Cincinnati Opera's board of trustees, today announced that Christopher Milligan has been named the next Harry Fath General Director & CEO of the company. Milligan's tenure begins March 2, 2020.

The Board of Directors of The National Ballet of Canada today announced that Karen Kain will retire as Artistic Director in January 2021 and will be named Artistic Director Emeritus.

A few weeks ago I saw The Lightning Thief. Usually when a show opens, I don't read the reviews. But in this case I decided to read the first one I saw. And by the end I had very clearly reminded myself why I never read reviews. This show's reviews are just one part of a wider problem: the field of theater criticism as a whole. We need to completely revamp the way that theater is reviewed and the way that theater reviews can bring down a show.

NYC & Company Chairman of the Board of Directors Emily K. Rafferty has announced her decision to step down from her chairmanship in February 2020. When Rafferty leaves her post next year, she will have served as Board Chairman of the organization for nearly 12 years and presided over a tourism industry that has enjoyed 10 consecutive years of growth. In accordance with NYC & Company's bylaws, the organization's Executive Committee today voted to elect longstanding Vice Chairman Charles Flateman, Executive Vice President of the Shubert Organization, to fill the remaining portion of Emily Rafferty's term, through February 2021.

Victoria Nolan, Deputy Dean of Yale School of Drama, Managing Director of Yale Repertory Theatre, and Professor in the Practice of Theater Management, will step down from those duties on June 30, 2020, in order to work on other projects and spend more time with her family.

The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop began rehearsals July 9 and will conclude in public readings of four new plays on July 20 and 21, 2019. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays. The workshop and public readings will take place in the South End at the Huntington's Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, Boston. 

Lorenzo Soria was elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for the 2019-2020 term which will commence on July 1. The news was announced at the organization's annual election meeting by outgoing president Meher Tatna.

The Metropolitan Opera has named soprano Lisette Oropesa as the winner of the 14th annual Beverly Sills Artist Award. The $50,000 award is given to extraordinarily gifted singers with rising Met careers. Given in honor of the legendary American soprano Beverly Sills, the award was established in 2006 by an endowment gift from the late Agnes Varis, a managing director on the Met's Board of Directors.
