Gospel recording artists VaShawn Mitchell and Zacardi Cortez will each make a special guest appearance at select performances of the Washington-area premiere of the award-winning new gospel musical comedy Sanctified, playing the historic Lincoln Theatre now through November 14.

Second Stage Theatre will present the New York premiere of Rajiv Joseph's (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) Gruesome Playground Injuries featuring Pablo Schreiber and Jennifer Carpenter in 2011, the New York Times reveals today. Scott Ellis will direct. Preview will begin on January 5, 2011, with an opening night scheduled for January 31, 2011.

'Chopin-An Impression,' a virtuoso performance of Chopin's music by a virtuoso puppet troupe, was originally commissioned by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the worldwide celebration of The Year of Chopin 2010, celebrating the bicentennial of the composer's birth in Zelazowa Wola, Poland.

Italy's Dario D'Ambrosi, a radical innovator of the theater and founder of the movement called Teatro Patologico (Pathological Theater), will direct his newest play, 'Bong Bong Bong against the Walls, Ting Ting Ting in our Heads,' as the opening production of 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV--Built to Perform.'

The Bethany Mass Choir, featuring George Shirley, Carmen Lundy, Dwight Andrews, Howard University's Afro-Blue Jazz Chorus, Eric Talley, Maurice Chestnut, Kenny Davis, Kassa Overall, and Geri Allen performing Mary Lou's Mass. Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), will end its production of Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning' on May 2nd. Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'
