The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) presents a number of unique shows this spring and summer as part of its 2017 season - the company's 102nd consecutive season.

Geva Theatre Center presents Private Lives, Noel Coward's hilarious comedy of manners.Private Lives is directed by Mark Cuddy and will be performed in the Wilson Stage from March 21 to April 16.

The Takoma Ensemble, a classical string orchestra, will offer a concert exploring the theme of immigration Saturday, January 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 633 Sligo Ave., Silver Spring. The concert, co-sponsored by CASA, is entitled The Golden Door: Music Without Borders, and will be led by Artistic Director and Conductor Victoria Gau. The concert will feature several works by American immigrants, beginning with a solo performance by Billboard winner Lilo Gonzalez. Other selections include Divertimento for Strings by Bela Bartok, Hungarian immigrant to the United States, and the world premiere of Beside the Golden Door, by Kim and Kathryn Kluge (Kim is the son of immigrants). The  concert will include Within Her Arms, composed by Grammy nominee Anna Clyne, and Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, written by Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos, the most famous South American composer of all time. Spanish commentary will be provided by Lindolfo Carballo, of CASA, and English commentary will be provided by Gau, and the performance will be followed by a Q&A and reception. Tickets are $10-$25 (kids 16 and under are free) and are available at takomaensemble.org. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to CASA. More information is available at 240-463-3695.

Artistic Director of Santa Barbara Dance Theater since 2012 (UC Santa Barbara's professional dance company in residence), Pilafian is at this writing preparing for the company's winter season, Anima and Animus, which will roll out over two weekends of performances at UCSB's Hatlen Theater, January 13-22. The program includes works by guest choreographer Becca Lemme, Brandon Whited (UCSB Theater and Dance Assistant Professor- and newly minted dance faculty member), and Artistic Director Pilafian himself. Also, included in the program will be a work by mid-century firebrand choreographer (and dancer for the dispossessed) Jane Dudley, as restaged by longtime Dudley interpreter Nancy Colahan. Is there a thread that connects these seemingly disparate dance pieces? Pilafian replies without hesitation.

On the heels of the national tour of Lincoln Center's Tony Award-winning Broadway revival sweeping the country now, educators and students will be whistling a happy tune when R&H Theatricals, a division of Rodgers & Hammerstein, an Imagem Company, releases Getting To Know... The King and I; it was announced today by Rodgers & Hammerstein president Ted Chapin and iTheatrics founder and CEO Timothy Allen McDonald.

In May 2017, the first major New York exhibition in over 20 years focused on artist Florine Stettheimer (1871-1944) will open at the Jewish Museum. Showcasing over 50 paintings and drawings in addition to costume and theater designs, photographs, and ephemera, the exhibition will offer a timely reconsideration of this influential American painter with a sharp satirical wit, placing her centrally in the modern dialogue of high and mass culture.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary season, the Kennedy Center's own The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, returns to the Eisenhower Theater stage for four performances, October 21-23, with an expansive all-Balanchine program. Including two large-scale company premieres, one of which is a revival of the rarely performed work Gounod Symphony and the patriotic Stars and Stripes, the program also features the return of an audience favorite, Danses Concertantes. Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) has just announced its sold-out production of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Fiorello! will transfer to Off-Broadway's East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues), home of Classic Stage Company.

The Cape Playhouse's 90th season continues with Talley's Folly, Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winner, starring Emily Kunkel and Ron Menzel. Directed by Skip Greer, it plays June 21 through July 2, with press night set for Tuesday, June 21 at 7:30 pm.
