The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Managing Director Robert G. Bradshaw, presents Toshiki Okada's Time's Journey Through a Room, marking PlayCo's third collaboration with Okada, translator Aya Ogawa, and director Dan Rothenberg, May 10 - June 10, 2018. This haunting play, set in post-Fukushima Japan, is an intimate examination of how we move forward from life-altering events, and a study of how we experience time, asking whether we can ever be alive to the present moment.

The American Shakespeare Center (ASC) closed submissions for the first round of the Shakespeare's New Contemporaries Project on February 15 at 11:59 pm PST. The company received 189 complete and eligible submissions from thirty-two US states and internationally from 10 countries. The Shakespeare's New Contemporaries Project is a twenty-year initiative to discover, develop, and produce plays that are inspired by and in conversation with Shakespeare's work.

Sonia Friedman Productions and Neal Street Productions will transfer Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman, directed by Sam Mendes, to Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W. 45th Street, New York) in October 2018.

Today we celebrate the life and career of actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, who passed away on this day in 2014. Beloved by audiences, and colleagues, Hoffman's death shook the artistic community. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the New York premiere of MISS YOU LIKE HELL. With book and lyrics by Quiara Alegr a Hudes and music and lyrics by Erin McKeown, the new musical is directed by Public Theater Resident Director and Founder of Public Works Lear deBessonet, with choreography by Danny Mefford. The musical will begin previews in The Public's Newman Theater on Tuesday, March 20 and run through Sunday, May 6, with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 10.
