Axis Company presents a return engagement of Last Man Club, written and directed byAxis Artistic Director Randy Sharp, June 5-28. The "atmospheric, expertly structured one-act drama" (The New York Times), presented first in 2013 and now again as part of Axis's 20th anniversary season, exemplifies the company's work-raw, unblinking theater, staged in Axis's intimate West Village space, that frequently explores dark moments in America's past. As news stories about the acceleration of climate change and its human toll break daily, the production takes audiences to the Dust Bowl, another era of environmental and economic strife catalyzed by unrestrained human greed.

With the critically acclaimed The Son currently running at Kiln Theatre, and with Inua Ellams' The Half God of Rainfall in rehearsals, Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham today announced the full cast for Blues in the Night - Susie McKenna directs Sharon D Clarke (The Lady), Debbie Kurup (The Woman), Clive Rowe (The Man) and Gemma Sutton (The Girl) the first major London revival in 30 years. The production opens on 24 July, with previews from 18 July, and runs until 7 September.

The 2019 season opens with THE GAME'S AFOOT by Ken Ludwig. It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop. - March 22 - April 7

Five POV feature films and one POV Shorts documentary have made it to the shortlists of their respective categories. Minding the Gap, Dark Money, The Distant Barking of Dogs On Her Shoulders and The Silence of Others are among 15 feature films being considered for the Documentary Feature Oscar for the 91st Academy Awards. A Night at the Garden, which was produced by Field of Vision, is among ten films that will advance in the Documentary Short Subject category.

Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, is proud to present in its 86th season the 1937 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, You Can't Take It With You. Written by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, You Can't Take It With You will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from October 20th through November 10th, 2018.

Lillian Hellman's 1939 drama, The Little Foxes, is a well-made drama about Southern aristocratic avarice and female suppression. When brothers Oscar (Bob Gerchen) and Ben (Chuck Brinkley) Giddens-who have inherited the whole of their father's fortune-go to their sister Regina (Kari Ely) needing money to build a cotton mill, Regina, the only sister in the Giddens family, must cunningly exploit her depressed husband Horace (William Roth), and outsmart her scheming brothers, if she is to enjoy any independence or wealth of her own.

POV Shorts, American Documentary's newest broadcast series, launches this week on PBS and streaming on amdoc.org. The series is one of the first on public television dedicated to independent short-form documentaries.

Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser and Producers Stephen Kocis and Josh Fiedler announced details of the season, which will kick off at the historic Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania on May 19.

Executive Producer Robyn Goodman, Producing Director Alexander Fraser and Producers Stephen Kocis and Josh Fiedler announced details of the season, which will kick off at the historic Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania on May 19.

Particularly in light of the 2016 documentary I Am Not Your Negro, author and civil rights activist James Baldwin is garnering new attention and appreciation for his astute analyses of race, class, and sexuality in U.S. culture. Our reading group will take up his groundbreaking semi-autobiographical first novel, Go Tell It on the Mountain (1953). Attendees are invited to read this seminal text that brought mid-20th Century African-American literature out of the shadow of Richard Wright while deftly exploring the post-Civil War Great Migration, its southern roots, its religious inflections, and its generational tensions. The suggested edition is the most recent paperback (ISBN 978-0345806543). Traditional New Orleans fare of coffee and beignets at Muriel's Jackson Square with lively discussion to follow led by Festival favorite and Southern literary scholar Gary Richards. Seating is limited to 50 persons; pre-registration is required.

Theatre Tulsa has announced that the final "Broadway Series" production of its 95th season will be "The Producers."

From the cast to the production design, Theater J's production is as good as it gets. We just wish Uhry's play was the same way.
